You're very welcome. I do love interesting (and haunted) historic locations, and you have some great work. I only wish the old Relay Hotel were still standing!

I grew up in one, which is still standing.Β It was built out of the ballast of slave ships, and there were slave tunnels under it.Β Pretty much the basis for my becoming a writer.

Interesting! I love researching the history of old houses, buildings, and structures. I grew up in a house built in the mid-70s, but just down the road was some old ruined houses with interesting pasts. I'd say my curiosity about the foundations and ruins all around where I grew up certainly helped me want to become a writer. But I can say the same for reading Agatha Christie, Poe, and Washington Irving too.

I read Poe, Dumas, and Irving when I was young, but they were pale shadows of some of the things I experienced there.

I know about surreal experiences, that's for sure. Though it's not always easy expressing them in words. The more time that passes between the experience and the telling, the harder it is to express it in a fitting way. Or maybe it's just my own getting tired of retelling the same story ad nauseum.

I remember all of mine vividly, and write them down when they happen, in order to preserve any details I can.Β I still relate my experiences, but mostly through writing these days.Β Expressing the events is easy; putting them in terms that the listener/reader can understand - not so much.

Did you manage it? I lived in an haunted house for 2 years. But nothing as charming and with the haunted look we imagine, it was a normal house with a ghost.

I caught the part about the church and not having gone inside it yet, and living in a haunted house. I'm better at reading French than speaking it these days! lol (Unless someone is speaking to me in Quebecois... I can't understand more than one or two words...)
I've been to plenty of haunted places--even lived with a few spooks--so I know how the reality is more mundane than the fiction. But it's researching the history that I've always enjoyed the most.

LOL I am a "false" QuΓ©becois, my parents were French so maybe you would understand me. Did you see something weird? I saw lots of things in my life, maybe I am the weird LOL.

lol If I can manage ok at a Gatineau restaurant, I'm sure I could understand you. lol
I've seen, heard, and felt plenty of weird things. More than I can count! I try to remain rational and skeptical whenever anything happens, but I can't explain away everything I've experienced. All I know is there are plenty of strange things happening out there... and I've been downright terrified sometimes. lol

Well... we are two ! Like you I try to remain logical and find some explanation but there were times it was impossible. In that house we were many persons to see, heard and felt strange things too. Ok your french must be good if you came here and understand... Hey you are a nice guy, nice to meet you ! Feel free to contact me anytime to share fearful stories.
