In reply to "I'm looking for your opinion. not your approval."

opinions given are from a positive critique stand point: your sense of drawing/rendering and craftsmanship is good. Experiment with line weight and pressure or brush weight and pressure whether traditional or digiital media. Draw from life - it will enhance the 3D aspect of a 2D drawing or painting. Loosen up - it will add life to your art. Woodless, solid graphite pencils 2b 4b 6b etc work well when you want to define a thin to thick stroke - from a light touch to a tearing paper power stroke.

When I ask people to give me an opinion of my work, I want a positive critique, if they see incorrect anatomy or editorial content that misses the mark - I want to hear it! I'm not concerned with their approval or disapproval it is subjective and usually comparitive, it boils down to a relationship between yourself and the masters - if you like Dali or Corot go look at their art, research how they did it, the way they mixed paint and most important to me is being able to look directly at the original paintings or drawings etc. Developing a personal style I believe comes from doing art outside the parameters of what you think others will think of it. Building series of work within parameters you set.

Kind of went rambled off here, don't usually have much time, Good stuff, good luck.

its in a position like this, that i wish i were better with words. I appreciate your thoughts. i think that theyre the first real feedback that i've recieved on this site. I've been working on "loosening up" my technique here lately, coincidentally. But yes, I suppose that i'm a bit hypocritical with that quote and just splashing an "I like this" here and there as i see work i fancy. I'm guess I'm guilty of getting caught up in lurking and living a one-sided relationship with others in this community. You've given me something to ponder. Thanks.

Nice work!

Do you get a little crazy after spending hours doing photo realistic stuff?

I get commissions to do it and if I don't approach it like a meditation, I get freaky and have to go out and climb trees. I used to approach it with tiny pencil strokes - labor intensive build up, then switched to a lot of different graphite and other media. I like to work with those woodless graphite hb 2b 4b 6b and one mechanical pencil with a 3 or 5mm hard graphite for detail/light areas combined with different blending techniques - stomps etc.

If you get too crazy. Get a fat, really big paint brush and a large canvas or substrate and give yourself 30 minutes to complete the finished painting... it works!

Have fun, great stuff.

No, I usually listen to music or talk with friends while drawing. For me it is like a relax . When I feel that I am getting crazy, I go to bed .

Greets !
