thanks man...love your stuff to. Right now Im just trying to get out of the black and white grid method thing. Im trying to freehand it with the colored pencils for the first time, so I've still got awhile to go. Wish you'd finish your stuff..specially since Im trying to do an re5 pic to(the cover of the gmae case).

i used to do grids (you can see em in my gears piece) but i broke free of them and now its working better for my art

how did you break away from the grids..I mean how do you set up your drawings now, do you measure, outline, draw in shapes or what?

it really helps to do little quick sketches of a big piece you want to do. its quick, easy, and lets you see if the composition, character design, color scheme, etc. is working. then, just start sketching on your final paper or canvas pretty quickly based off of your little sketch. then, just keep refining those lines til your done. the main reason why you should sketch lightly first on your final paper is because you can quickly get the shapes of what your drawing easier than if you were just drawing lines to make the picture. by sketching first, you wind up with a better developed piece with most of the objects you're drawing in proportion
