I agree. I've been insanely busy, with no time for internet-hang-outs.

Plus sometimes I get pretty burned out on critiquing.

hey! i dont want to come off as creepy or anything but here we go hah. i saw you at san japan this past weekend. you were phenominal. i have been looking for a really good gundam/mecha cosplayer that is in texas for a long time. its been awhile since ive seen one like yours haha. not sure if you remember me but i was the guy with the sgt. frog hat and the gundam shield backpack. i am very interested in gundam and mecha cosplays and i really want to get into it. ive experimented a little bit here and there but nothing major to present or anything so far. you definitely seem to know what you are doing so i was just wondering if you would mind if i got in contact with you like this and maybe got a little help and maybe even become friends haha. but either way. again not trying to be weird. tried my best not to be.

Hehe, thanks for the awesome comments!

Half of the Gundam was designed off of Pepakura files. Part of the reason I chose Freedom was it one one of the few non-super-deformed highly-detailed papercraft-available Gundams I could find. The other half, I just sort of designed myself, usually because the papercraft wasn't sufficient or, for some reason, completely inaccurate to the Freedom Gundam.

I have been getting some good advice from Mirage, who is my favorite Gundam cosplayer. his DA is here: [link]

For some reason, my server crashed, but I have a ton of the build processes on my blog. Hopefully it should be back up in 1-3 days, but it is at www.mushrooshi.com if you are interested and feel like watching for when the site goes back up.

I do recommend you ask someone else for advice on the paint and finishing of the Gundam. I'm going to be doing a completely different finishing process for my next mecha/armor cosplay if I do one, since I wasn't satisfied with how delicate and janky (up close) my current process is. It looks pretty good in bright daylight from 5 feet away, but looking up close, the Gundam looks kind of messy. I'll update if I find a better build process, but imo Goldy has the best finish on his Gundam cosplays, and he has a few tutorials on youtube. This is one of them: [link]

haha sure thing so pretty much you took a paper craft file and used those as the pieces to cut out of cardboard and then stick together? Ive seen a few other people do that with a 3d digital design program. that's pretty cool. im wondering how you got cardboard or whatever you used on that front black round cockpit area. ive tried to get cardboard to mold like that for my zaku and it hasn't worked yet. and oh yes Clive lee i love him, me and him have talked quite a lot. i found him on accident one day and that's how i got into all of this. yeah i finally found your site and tried going to the site but no luck haha guess that explains it lol. yeah i didn't really notice it too much so it cant be that bad but i definitively understand wanting the finish to be perfect. i know we can hardly call each other close friends yet but i would absolutely love to help in anyway i can.
also you think you might be going to that brony fan fair thing? just curious haha.

And the curved front piece is posterboard. Anything that is a finer detail or looks impossible to do with cardboard is almost definitely posterboard.

I'm going to Brony Fan Fair. I'd love to bring the Gundam, but so far, it seems like it would be too much effort to. I'm moving up to College Station in a week, and I can't bring the Gundam to the dorms given how huge it is, and how my vehicle will be completely full for the stuff I'm moving in. To get the Gundam to BFF, I'd need to stop over to San Antonio, grab the Gundam (and repair kit), then drive up to Austin, pay a ton for parking, then return back to SA and all that lovely jizz, which would be really selfish for me to try to do since I'm planning on carpooling. I think I'll just take my Gundam helmet and my rubber horsemask instead.

Curious, did you run into Clive in person? I have yet to contact Goldy, I'm not sure if the white guy in the video is him, or just an English speaking friend. I thought Goldy was japanese though.

yeah that sounds pretty rough. i know how bad it can get when you are transporting things of that size. i made a yoko littner gun for my girlfriend and it barely fits in her car diagonally across the car. im actually moving back to utsa in san antonio from austin in i think two weeks. but no sadly i havent met him in real life. talked to him on facebook, deviant art, youtube, and the actual site i found him on. im currently in contact with goldy(roughly) and my good friend in the philipines chirtopher. on facebook he has a whole mecha gundam tutorial page up and everything. its pretty cool coming along pretty great. oh and hofully by the brony fair i will have my rough cut of my zaku head done haha
