Description
Recently, I have talked to Kate and we were discussing how possibly could the story of Horrortale take a new turn of events: namely, what could go wrong in the AU to have a part of the main cast swapped, so the following events play if not completely, then differently to some clearly visible extent. In the end of our conversation I have introduced my vision on how could the events play, so Papyrus becomes the one to be sacrificed for the CORE to work again. In brevis, Sans, after hearing the conversation of Alphys and Undyne would decide to hide in his house, so he doesn't get caught outside to be used as the power source for the forgotten scientist's invention. He knew anything could now happen in this world descending into its personal hell. Soon after Undyne tried to unsuccessfully lure Sans out of the house by contacting him through Papyrus, she decided to continue her attempts to peacefully make the skeleton fall for her lie, but no matter how he wouldn't... Sans in reality got closed in himself and would even rarely walk out of the house to get the already scarce provision: the tone of that talk he heard wasn't of a joking matter and he knew that. Undyne was an impulsive person and if she wanted she could get what she wanted... Especially when she was the one in power... However, Sans miscalculated by thinking she would never touch his younger brother... Just because he was so kind to everyone. In the end when the queen finally realised she had to capture Sans with brute force, Alphys offered to check whether Papyrus could wield similar power source within himself... As a last resort, Undyne accepted the idea and went for Papyrus. Coincidentally, Papyrus was patrolling Snowdin as usual, however, now he wasn't much happy: even such optimistic people couldn't pay no attention to the tension growing in the Underground. He made a fake smile on his face when he encountered his bestie. Undyne offered Papyrus a training, like in good old times. After the end she, jokingly asked if Papyrus had any new or secret abilities noone knew about. Papyrus answered negatively initially, but after she asked if he was sure about it told that he once had used an attack that he found not even tough, but actually dangerous and doesn't really want to show it. Papyrus described it as a giant floating skull, shooting powerful beams out of itself. He had discovered it in his youth when he was engaged into fighting after pointlessly trying to avoid the conflict. Hopefully, the attack didn't hurt anyone back then, due to intensionally missing its targets, but that was enough to scare the bullies off. Not even Sans knew about the incident. In the end, it was clear: Papyrus had it with him...
...
She had no other way than to use her only friend for the sake of everyone.
So, that was my idea. In case of the AU gaining further development from the stage of being just an idea, I am going to make new publications dedicated to it where I would explain more about the overall plot.
