wanted to see my fan characters the Maddogs. I thought it was a good idea for readers to see what they look like, so I went for it. Sorry for making you wait, Swedish!The Maddogs are a group of all-canine Freedom Fighters Antoine D'Coolette meets in my story Knight Errand: fav.me/da7ex71 . Starting from the top, there's their leader the Smiling Bandit, who's a terrier-mix and Tramp expy. Next to him is Juniper the Navajo coyote, the group healer. I didn't want to do what a lot of Sonic fan artists do when it comes to drawing female coyotes: take Antoine, slap some eyelashes and more hair on him, and dub him a girl. I feel animals of the same species don't need to look like copies of each other. They stand out better if they have more individualistic designs. The last one in the row, the snooty-looking labrador guy, is the Maddogs' cook Barkerville.
On the second row starting from the left we've got the Russian borzoi Illya, demolitions expert. In the middle is Anubia the Egyptian pharaoh hound, seer and practitioner of the mystic arts, and beside her Bridget, the mechanic and handyman/girl/dog. She's a kooikerhondje-mix (and if you don't know what a real kooikerhondje looks like, Google them because they're adorable).
Last row is Slipp, Dag, and the only canon character on here, Fiona Fox. Slipp is a yorkshire terrier, who, thanks to his small size and quickness, is an excellent thief. Dag's a doberman and the group muscle. Fiona was a very last minute addition. At first she wasn't going to be included, but then I (cynically) remembered that anything with her in it is likely to snag a bunch of hits, so... Plus she was sort of fun to draw.
Other then Bandit, I like how everybody turned out!

I've been debating on whether I wanted to read their introduction in the story first before commenting, but I decided to comment now. Not that I have a lot to say. 
I gathered that Fiona is their enemy? I must say, the concept of a pack of dogs chasing a fox makes me rather uncomfortable. But I appreciate that you drew her to look like a canid. I was looking through some fanart of Fiona and, so help me, they made her look like a cat. ._.

Do you want me to say what Fiona's role is, or do you want to wait and read the story? Really? I don't get this fandom. Everything either looks like a cat, canine, or.... unidentifiable.

Ah! Since you ask, I will wait and read. What I said was based on skimming the other comments, but I do not want spoilers.
And yeah. You've seen me lament it before, but foxes tend to have their muzzles drawn too short, and not just in Sonic stuff, although I think the aforesaid Fiona art has been the most egregious. A fluffy tail alone doth not a fox make (especially as cats can have fluffy tails).

Well! The only thing that springs to mind is Star Fox. It's not as bad as Sonic, but there does seem to be a tendency to draw Krystal with a too-short muzzle. Fox himself seems to come out looking more like some kind of dog. I'm fairly certain that any fan-art of a fox character is probably prone to this though.

I see exactly what you mean about the StarFox designs. Probably. I think Disney might avoid this issue though, since their vulpines actually have proper noses.
(I just got done looking through a bunch of Antoine fanart, and a ton of it has the same problem -- giving him either a short nose or ugly nose.)

Probably? xD I can overlook it on occasion, if the muzzle is at least noticeable and there are other elements that I like. And yeah, Disney art is usually better.
Well, Antoine is a Sonic character. So it stands to reason he'd have the same problem.

Sweet, awesome painting! I love how they turned out to be! Especially Juniper! Might had to wait, but it was worth it. You should try to make more Sonic fanarts more often. You're pretty damn good at it. Hoping for a fanart where maybe Antoine and Juniper are interacting or perhaps doing something even more...

Wow, thank you so much! I'm really glad you like these guys enough to want to see them outside the stories. I'm glad I got Juniper to look exactly how I envision her in my head. If only Bandit had been that easy, LOL. I have so many ideas for Sonic fan art it isn't even funny, but don't want to upload nothing but Sonic since lots of people watch me for different fandoms and things. If I can I try to post a mix of things, but I don't mind tossing in more Sonic.
Hmm, Juniper and Antoine you say? I'm always interested in having Antoine interact with a bigger variety of characters, so yeah, I'll do it.

I'll say it: Anubia is sexy. But Bridget is adorable! Dag reminds me of Blitz, but I consider that a good thing. Lol, but I don't see anything wrong in including Fiona if it means your work getting more hits.

I like everyone here too! I really dig the details you added onto each canine to make their species stand out. Their expressions are all nice too; they each give off a personality of some sort through their expressions alone. I think Fiona was a great addition to throw in to indicate she's an enemy of these guys. I'm having a difficult time choosing which one is my fave too LOL.

Thanks! Dogs come in so many different shapes and sizes, and I'd much rather see more people take advantage of that variety instead of just using the same handful of breeds or wolf-like (or in the corgis' case, fox-like) dogs over and over again.
