Description The Battlestar Pleiades in low orbit above Caprica, pre-invasion. This model is from SciFiMeshes.com original author Tan J.

The original model was in Lightwave, and I am not sure which version, because I had one helluva time converting the materials over...the UV coordinates were either not set, or simply did not convert over to Cinema 4D coordinates like usual. Some materials I had to completely re-do using Cinema 4D materials because the image files were simply missing

Cinema 4D Conversion by me.

Good work on that conversion dood,
Ive got the same model and have been slowly re-texturing it for weeks now. Got so bored of staring at shaders that I did this [link]
..and then I had to re-texture my Enterprise .. Just cant escape from it !

Ugh DA and it's problems, the pic is not showing up, when it did it would not show as "large" Grrrrrr~! DA is seriously irritating me, to think we are paying for this crap!

Anywho, this one is only partially re-materialized lol, I converted all the materials as C4D materials, but had not re-sized or re-arranged them as yet in this pic, that comes a bit later. Battlestar Ouroboros is totally re-materialized as can be seen here:

and in my animation [link]

It looks very good my friend, the scifi-meshes models on BSG are very good but the lightwave materials /UVs are so messed up in 3DS or Vue.
The animation you did was very kool , some really good effects there.
Material test 2 is a very good composition, not too sure about the nebula in the Gauntlet, it is a bit bright for a BSG nebula which doesn't look right with the dark BSG-88 there but the rest of that image is amazin!

Almost done with my Galactica .. stay tuned!

I agree, most of the time I can get LW materials to come straight across, but if they use this process in LW called "material nodes" then they do not and from what I have been able to determine is the materials are THERE just sized way out of proportion >.>

Looks great. I'd love to see more of the ship!

Thanks - yeah I am redoing all the materials on these lightwave conversions. Here is one I am about 80% Complete on with the materials [link] It's a different ship

Yea I read it. I would of just did it all in c4d man...or lightwave and then the composition in ps.

I've been through these conversions and materials will not convert over well if at all into c4d, unless your using python and compatible files.

Keep going though man I'm impressed by your determination.

Actually I have had good results with materials conversions to date with R11, other than having to reload all the maps lol. This fellow that built this mesh though uses a quite strange method of doing his materials to be honest. So the "image scale" in coordinates is waaaaaaaaaaaaay off. [link] this is one I am about 80% complete on redoing all the materials, just decided to re-do them myself After I get done with Ourobos, I intend on coming back to Pleiades and redoing ALL those materials Oh and I don't have Lightwave, just the demo, which is quite limited (plus only about 24 days left lol).

To be honest I don't even want Lightwave, I MUCH prefer the workflow in C4D

Thanks - yes it was pretty good, suspenseful, well shot with awesome effects and scenery, but the seasons were way too short.

Good job but the material is killing it bro. You need to use selections and map out where the materials should go. It looks like you just set it to a cubic projection and applied it to the whole ship. If you have this in certain area's instead the whole thing it would look much more realistic or more modern sci-fi. I really like the model and the compo though so good job there.

Thanks lol - did you read the description? Had a serious time with the materials here, so I downloaded a demo version of lightwave to try and figure out why, seems they are using "node based" materials here which do not translate over to Cinema 4D (I always have to tweak the LW materials in C4D anyway but these node materials have to be completely redone. I am rendering at this moment a WIP of Battlestar Ouroboros (same class as Galactica) where I am COMPLETELY renovating the materials using the image maps, and C4D materials. Right now I have it done for the most part, just lacking finishing the starboard hangar pod.
