Hey Eric, I use Fractal Explorer for most of my pieces. I have always said that learning how to use the colour palette's in FE, is just as important as finding a cool shape or pattern. You just have to keep playing around with the palette's till you find something pleasing. One of the last things I do though is adjust the saturation - 9 times out of 10 i will adjust it lower, so the colours are not so bold.
