Description Rocko had hard day, poor wallaby..
(Maybe it recollects one episode, but this pic was made out of nothing ,without any reference )

Sketch'd during the work, shortly before end of shift, I was tired like hell and the illusion of knockout right on the bed was so intense...it led me to that idea..
The most annoying part was the wooden texture...after spending hours tinkering with it I realized I won't be drawing wooden object for some time

Hey-thanks,but IMAO I've made only minor steps ahead.
The advance is still "sleepy-snail-paced" due the fact I'm experimentizing most of the time (absolutely no will to bite through any tutorials), and I see mistakes in almost everyt apporoach.
and no worthy idea occured sofar..

That's normal! No one can expect to advance too quickly. All of art is an experiment. We have an idea and we try to depict it visually and see what we end up with. Of course you are gong to see mistakes along the way. After years and years when you are much much better you will still see mistakes. That's just how it is. But I can see you moving forward and I can see the slow progress of improvement. Keep it up.

I wish to..but that's not the only hobby I do have(not to mention other duties),and if I prefer one, than neglect the another. Well it seems there's only one option-to choose primary field of interest, and the others do marginally,if ever( but the choice will be difficult, right now I'm not determined, ), or to stagnate (or develop really inconsiderably)in all..
Dealing with (my) life is tricky

Same here. One of my biggest problems is that I'm pretty good (or at least okay) at a lot of things but I'm great at none of them. I jump from hobby to hobby, project to project and when I proclaim that I'm through with one thing or another for good, it seems that the very next day I start back with what I was doing. There's very little hope for me. Sculpting, drawing, learning Japanese, making claymation films, baking, murals, writing... the list goes on and on. I never stop them forever, but with so many things I want to do, I leave a lot of tasks unfinished.

Whoa, pretty impressive list of activities(-seems you've got more hobbies than myself) Claymation film? I recall myself seeing in past one computer game made solely from clay,it was like interactive movie (the name I forgot), but it was absolutely superr. Is what you've mentioned something like it?
Ow-the Nippon language? Cripes! The've got thousands of symbols to memorize, they represent vocals or what, right? You have my respect -I'd never start learning language so difficult like Japanes or Chinese..and so distant in mentality, culture and society, and all these aspect have serious impact also in communication and understanding..it's like learning some marital art alongside with comprehending the main philosophy, which formed it and explains. But for Japanese all others are just "gaijins", no matter how good you know their language..Oh I'm getting in lengths again-simply said It's all so fascinating, but more than language I suppose.
Well,honestly-you're pretty good in your activities, I had the pleasure to see your drawings, your sculptures as well as your wonderful writing, so good luck and many happy moments while spending time doing art

Well, many of them fall under the same umbrella of art, but I am eclectic in my artistic disciplines. The claymating I've done were not like an interactive game, but I used a polymur sculpting compound (Sculpy or Fimo) and crafted little figures, people or animals and used stop motion filming where I'd press pause pause so it would record for a moment and then stop then I'd move the character a little bit and do it again. It takes FOREVER!!! But it looked pretty cute. The tape has long since been recorded over, but I managed to keep it long enough to show my husband when I was 18 or 19. I created the film when I was 16 right before I started college, so I might have started on it when I was 15. It took a long time.

As far as language, I have found that Japanese is not a very difficult language to learn. Some of the writing is hard (Kanji is hard, kana is not so hard). I can't speak many complete sentences, unfortunately, and now days I am very out of practice, but I did know a lot of vocabulary, especially foods. I can count to 100 in Japanese almost as fast as I can count in English! But I cannot understand someone telling time in Japanese. There's a lot I don't know. I have found it much more difficult learning Korean!! I don't think I'll ever get it down and I live in a Korean household! Ai gu! (that's the vocal equivilant of a sigh in Korean and I don't know how it's actually spelled!)

The game I mentioned worked on the same principles the short video sequences. After bit of search I found it!Its's the NEVERHOOD [link]
At the moment I'm dowloading it- Y'know -the nostalgy It's SPECTACULAR. If you would be interested I can note you to a link to torrent address
How could I forget about all that things, my memory has leaks far biger I thought..
I'm EXAGGERATED I can't wait to play it again

Does the Japanese has some practical use in States? (except of watching anime in original )
I mean- aren't they reluctant in conversation in their native language? But it seems, it's trendy, most of youth starts to prefer JL from others, mainly thanks to boom of art from far east. (IMAO I haven't fallen in love with anime, gundam and others, still the traditional art consider more attractive. )

You are very right. There isn't much practical use here in the states to speak Japanese unless you work for a big business. It is strictly a hobby soI can better understand the anime I watch and japanese songs I listen to. There's something fascinating about the study of a culture that is foreign to your own. There aren't a lot of places to learn Nihongo here. In fact, the languages that are usually available to highschool and college students are Spanish and French and German.

The reason I'm trying to learn a little bit of Korean is to better understand the Korean tv shows I watch and also I feel that of all the languages I could learn, Korean would serve me best considering all the Korean women I have contact with through my mother-in-law and the Korean Food Store.

Also, I have an interest in learning lots of languages. I have always wanted to learn Latin because it is the root language for most "western" languages and still used in science, medicine, and art. But all of these endevours I don't expect much to come out of them. I jump from interest to interest so I may only learn a tiny little piece before I lose interest and move on. LOL!

Rocko is one of my FAVORITE cartoons. He's so awesome! Too bad they don't show it anymore (on my cable). I miss em. The old good cartoons. Anyways, lets get back to the art comment:

This was really good. As said, the wood looks very realistic. May i ask, how did you do this picture?

404bot In reply to Raiku-kun [2008-06-04 05:01:49 +0000 UTC]

Indeed it is. The good old gold one I grew up on that show -nice times(and it was one of reasons why I decided to draw cartoons as hobby)
If I can hint -try download the whole 4 episodes via Torrents (I did that some year ago-so it could be still workin' and if not, there were few episodes on YouTube
The pic or the texture? both ain't difficult, only in my case time-consumpting(cca 6hrs of time)-because I do every line or shade manually, and often try some new apporoach.. It's bit hard 4me to explain the whole process,at the beginning is idea and all the other things (like Bckgrnd details) develop "on the run"
thank you for compliments, >there's still alot to learn

Aaawww, Rocko looks so adorable with a lightpink top. And the wood texture is indeed really hard to make it looking real so I think you did a super great job with this pic.

About the color of the top: I live alone -he lives alone too,I wash my clothes-probably so he does. I screwed up separating coloured clothes (I never pay 2much attention 2dat) so (not only)my top gone pink, and I thought for myself it would be funny (and probably)to make him do the same. Well I hope that wasn't mean from me -it was spontaneous idea while choosing the colour, and white seemed "dull" so... kinky pinky top is making it different
Well It's nice to her that, that all the effort spent on wood wasn't in vain
Bye
