Description

Just, why?
It has the same backstory as Movie 1 but instead of making a clone race ton enslave humanity it just wants to find a home
I don't see why they couldn't have used Movie 1 Mewtwo anyway
thus why I call it Newtwo :3

And why i'll call these creators Imbeciles

Pokemon is owned by Nintendo

Yep, they've got similar backstories but they're different Mewtwo

My theory: Mewtwo just migrated from Cerulean Cave to Unknown Dungeon.

Besides...all the arguments say that the creators of this Newtwo needed not only financial means, but technical means as well as access to Mew DNA.

I had to wrack my brain and, this is JUST FOR FUN, mind you, but there IS one person who does fit that mold except for one detail.

Lieutenant Banks from the Lucario and the Mystery of Mew movie?  He was Kidd Summer's employer.  He's obviously loaded, had a LOT of technogadgets that, with the proper scientists working for him, could have hacked other laboratories at any time, and most of all, Kidd Summers was in physical contact with a Mew.  All he'd need was a single Mew hair or DNA sample that had touched her outfit.

The problem?  He's not a jerk who'd do something so cruel to a living creature.  He wasn't a bad guy.  Otherwise, he fits the mold at least.  XD  Interesting speculation, but nothing to back it up.  Just for fun.

that's mostly why i eliminated him as a suspect

He destroyed data under Kidd's orders without a problem so i wouldn't think that he's the type

Nope, certainly not the type.  Just the only one I can think of whom otherwise had opportunity, circumstance, and the financial and technical means to make it happen.

maybe someone robbed him?

I mean you can delete something on your computer and the data would still be on the hard drive

and with someone as famous as Kidd, she's bound to have enemies

If there was ever any actual evidence...even a HINT...pointing in that direction I'd gladly take it.

But nope.  Persons unknown.  I saw artwork on here depicting the new Forme as being cloned that way, and I say no, it didn't happen that way.  Flashback materials in both the prologue and the last trailers released immediately before the movie clearly show her waking up in her cloning tube as a Mewtwo.  Since a new Forme in the games will usually come about as the result of some object, it is highly likely she was exposed to said object, accidentally or not, while still in the lab early on.  Probably accidentally from a bunch of scientists who didn't realize the object would make Mew cellular structure react.

Team Flare is supposed to be in it for the money.  Yay, what a goal!  Moolah!  So why clone a Mewtwo?  Maybe they were or are fierce rivals with Team Rocket and don't like to let them get ahead?  With their money fixation they like to "keep up with the Jonses" so they decided to create a Mewtwo as well and furthermore, do it a turn better?  Is that incentive enough to send in a spy?

Who the heck knows.  I don't exactly think Team Plasma was responsible.  They had their own cloning agenda and that was Genesect.  HOWEVER, the only thing that makes me look in their direction is the fact that they were perfectly capable of cloning pokemon and keeping them stable, and it didn't have anything to do with the healing potential found in Mew DNA.  Wonder where they got that knowledge?  It is possible in the pokemon universe to straight-up create clones and it seems to be legal.  In early Hoenn it was even openly discussed (including talk of cloning fluid) with Ash and May, as if it were a regular occurrence.  Maybe the problems arose in the original lab then when they tried to make enhanced superclones instead of a straight-up clone?  Don't know.

I have my own theory. It's a bit Farfetch'd *pun intended* so bear with me.

Giovanni probably had files on Mewtwo that Mewtwo never got rid of and he 'remembered' him by seeing those files. He then decided to try to create a new one but one with a little less.. destructive tendencies. He hired some new scientists and well... you know the rest.

It's plausible because A: Villains never learn their lesson

B: Giovanni has been in constant communication with Miyamoto. (Look her up on bulbapedia and you'll understand what I mean)

One thing that bothers me though is the new Mewtwo's ability to MEga-Evolve.

Trying to explain this to myself was driving me crazy for awhile, and eventually I just decided to leave it vague in my head until and if it is ever explained.  The writers just decided to up and create another, with no explanation of how or why.

One of the most popular theories I've come across, though, is "spy who made a copy of manual and genetic blueprints and took the day off when Mewtwo woke up and made the lab go explodey."

After that...all you'd need is another Mew DNA sample, right?  (And one from a "female" Mew since this one gives off such strong girly vibes...)

What "really" happened?  I haven't the foggiest idea.

Welp, looks like the two mewtwos need to fight to the death.

As it is the only way.

There's one thing that doesn't add up: Mewtwo didn't wipe everyone's memory. Just the ones who knew about him (Giovanni and the Rockets). With him being sighted in other parts of the world, it's possible others have a vague idea of his existence.

As for the information being found out, my guess is there was an info leak that allowed the cloning experiment to be replicated. We're looking at a world where Pokemon can be traded through machines. The possibility of data being transferred over a network is there. The entire experiment procedure could've been leaked to that lab before the New Island lab was destroyed.

I'm just guessing. I have yet to see the film.

Neither have I
But all the stuff on new island was either with TR or in new island, seeings as M1 Mewtwo blew up the lab, relocated the new one and wiped every member of TR's memory, the only explanation is Mew
But with Mew you'd have to probably look into the Tree of Beginning, but Kidd erased all the data and didn't get a DNA sample O_o

well the original mewtwo is considered an urban legend according to the japanese version of Mewtwo Returns

Because the only people to meet it either are a pride-hurt Giovanni, had their memories erased by Mewtwo and Mew, died alongside Mr Fuji or are the clones that still accompany them

that's my theory, they based the girl mewtwo off of that urban legend

I think outside the box and that's just my theory. Time will tell what the deal is.

My other theory was there was spy for this other lab planted in the original team who leaked the entire experiment before being killed and subsequently getting blown up with everything else. Experiments, even cloning, can be replicated successfully if done right.

Judging from whatever the timeline for this new Mewtwo to have been created, it's possible she's much younger than the original. I'm just waiting for the film to be dubbed to see if it will make this Mewtwo the original or not. It wouldn't be the first time the dub's changed things up, like when Ash and Co. met Silver the baby Lugia and remembered the one from The Power of One. That connection didn't exist in the Japanese version.
