Description
I watch The Lorax twice in theaters, and I like it. The plot could have been better, but it's not lame, as some people claim. The Once-ler is one of my favorite characters, along with Ted Wiggins, Audrey, Norma, pipsqueak, and the Lorax. But unlike the other Once-ler fangirls, I like him for his personality, his looks and fashion style are just bonuses for my interested, which is why i made this fan-art, to express how I feel about the Once-ler, with a truffule tree in the back ground to impress a friend of mine.
Oh, and one more thing, you obviously notice that I'm accepting constructive criticism to improve my art, unlike a certain bitch that I know that won't take criticism, even if we sugar-coated them(believe me, I tried), and she's sadly 4-5 years older than me. Better take advice from artists like me ~Sony-Mae , and hopefully people won't bash you.
Hope you like my art guys. ;D

Hello! So here are a few things I think could improve.
1. The hair seems rather lifeless, maybe give it more shadow and highlights rather than one long squiggle of white?
2. I don't know if the background is done to serve a point to the tree, but it is rather boring. I'm not that drawn to the picture with a simple gray, white and black background.
3. If you look at a few pictures of the Truffula trees, you might see that they slightly lean in a few directions. The trunk is too stiff, give it some form and it could give it a "Dr. Seuss"-esque feeling.
4. Old Once-ler doesn't look very old in my opinion, check out some pictures of older people and see if you can make him more realistic.
5. The shading isn't very consistent. I can't tell where the light is coming from or what angle it's hitting.
6. Back to Old Once-ler for a second, his back is way too straight, and because of this, the way the neck leans forward makes it very awkward. It looks like it is about to break.
Besides those points, it is nice. Just improve on a few things.

Yeah, the old Once-ler was hard for me, since there's not many Old Once-ler's pics, and my friend mentions the trunk, whoopies.

There are actually a good amount of pictures of him if you look carefully. Besides that, this picture is well drawn ^^

Because I did add shades on the hair, use dark to light colors for the highlights than white, you just can't see it, because of the hair color.

I see, but, couldn't you have lightened the hair a bit to see those highlights? I don't know, maybe your computer is different.

I'm using my brother's laptop, which is a Windows 7 HP. And I color it from Laptop touchpad to mouse(my fingers get a little sore, burn, and numb after using it for more than an hour)

Ah, this picture is now one of my new personal favorites. Thou at first it may be a little hard to follow... but after looking at if for a momment, the viewer gets it completely. I am a huge fan of the Once-ler (All stages of him) myself, and this really captures the way he felt throughout his stages of change. From innocent, to greedy, to regret, to remorse, it captures them to a pin point. This drawing has upmost detail that was also captured in the movie, and has a wonderful magestic glow kind of feel to the picture.

you know, now that you mention it, the plot was good... in the past. I thought the present plot with Ted and O'Hare was pretty phoned in. I mean, Ted's only saving the environment for a girl? And we didn't even NEED O'Hare! Well, Ted does learn at the end that it's more important to save an ecosystem, seeing at how he was glad to have saved the day, then surprised to get a kiss from Audrey. So, that part kinda saves the present plot, but not by much.
I do like the Onceler, and thanks to remarkably wonderful fanart he's growing on me. But, what I like about him more is that I see him more like an antihero. I don't see why people see him as a villain! (well, except for How Bad Can I Be was one of Onceler's most memorable parts of the movie). I mean, at the beginning he's gonna cut down trees, so we assume he's going to be bad. But, over time, we see some (admittingly underplayed) moments where he realize that maybe cutting down the trees is wrong, and he befriends the Lorax and the forest creatures. There was even a few seconds of the movie that shows Onceler trying to make thneeds WITHOUT cutting down trees, that should speak a lot about his character! But, once the temptation of money comes in, he throws everything out, picks up an axe and becomes the villain... for about ten minutes of the film, then regrets and goodness come in. See, if they kinda didn't underplay the parts where he knows right from wrong, he coulda been a much better antihero and a much memorable villain. I mean, come on, we hardly have any antiheroes in kids films these days, so thank God for the Onceler we got.
