Description
It never occurred to me how sad Casper's story was until I revisited this series and watched some of the first few episodes.
Casper is the ghost of a child who wanders the Earth alone in search for friends. However, the people he comes close to is frightened of him and runs away like they've seen a terrorist, while he's shunned and ridiculed by his own kind, causing him run away. He becomes so drowned in loneliness and depression that he actually tried to commit suicide a few times. Of course, since he's already dead, it's just a big slap in the face which makes him even more depressed until some potential friend comes along.
The idea here is that he's laying at a tombstone and sleeping like he were dead to regain some peace, if only for a little while.
There's a song I listened to that reminds me of Casper. I think it fits this lonely side of him quite well.
