Well.. everything but the fingers and screws on the automail was made of craft foam and metallic silver fabric. The fingers is made of a special kind of modeling clay called 'Cernit'. It turns hard as plastic, when baked. And then painted it and varnished it, so it looked like the rest of the automail with a smooth surface ^^

Hmm.. Well.. In Denmark I think it costs about 2-3$ for one pack. I think you should use 1-2 packs to all 5 fingers :3

Naeh.. Not that much? If you make them on your hand it shouldn't be that hard? And then just bake the pieces you make (instructions should be on the pack).

The cernit?
Well.. Maybe, but I think it would be very fragile ^^'
That's also the reason why we made everything else of craft foam, it works great n_n
But if you want to make the arm of cernit, you should know that you have to bake it on top of something that resembles your arm, to give it the round shape, because tried to make the upper part of the hand in cernit, and tried to shape it, before it was done baking. It failed and cracked.. ^^'

You use it like paper, and then you just glue it together. Afterwards you can paint it, so it looks more silver metallic. (We used fabric instead of paint, but paint looks awesome as well) :3

No.. We used it as basic material, but it's like thick paper, to work with. The automail on the other progress pictures is only made of craft foam with metallic silver fabric glued on top of it. It's also possible to make it just out of the craft foam and then paint it instead of using fabric :3

Hmm... We were two to make it, and it took us about two weeks in total, but it won't take that long, if you paint it instead of glye fabric on it.. The pieces were done within a few hours, and if you paint it, it might take a few days in total, I think.. Depends of how much time you spend on it each day n_n

Are you painting over vinyl? Or just onto foam? If foam, how did you seal the foam? And, for both, what brand of paint are you using?

Actually we cheated a little with the fingers and used modeling wax that turns hard as plastic when it's baked, to make them. :3
I don't know which brand, I can ask , if you want? But I think she mixed some colors to make that metallic silver. :3
