Haha, adding texture with brushes is fairly easy to do but difficult not to overdo 
Generally when adding texture, all you're doing is painting on a seperate layer set to overlay. I recommend you play with the various layer options though, they all produce different results, and also don't be afraid to overlay colours when you're applying your texture.
