Description
(For a basic view of the Birrin Bodyplan, which has 6 legs, see this link [slightly out of date] [link] )Refugees, faced with starvation and loss of livelihood by the diversion of the river that feeds the vast lakes they live upon, were shipped to uninhabited badlands in neighboring nations. The state responsible for the disruptive developments paid local poor governments, in arms and financial relief, to accept millions of displaced people inside their borders.
Ill feelings due to the destruction of their towns and habitat, anger soon erupted into large scale protests which the financially insecure and corrupt nations had trouble containing.
Seen here is a vast march from a nearby tent city; angry refugees storm an area of newly (but cheaply) build admin towers created to manage the huge displaced population.
Younger and angrier refugees quickly turned to violence, attacking understaffed riot police staff with knives and other improvised weapons.

What funcion does the spines on his neck have? Are they for display or is iT something else? Or is iT just an older pic of the birrins? (Sorry for all me questions, but the birrins are the most interesting alien race ever!)

Do Birrins (and other creatures on this planet) have similiar organ structure like us? Heart, lungs and other or do they have some unique organs?

They have some unique organs but roughly similar to large birds

I love how you make completely alien landscapes so familiar. Deserts look like deserts cause ever planet has a desert and that is what a desert looks like. Tall buildings look like our tall buildings because gravity would pull them down if they didn't. People use swords, knives, spears, clubs, and shields because those are so much easier and cheaper to make than an other weird shaped weapon. (like we have weird shaped martial arts weapon but everyone uses swords, knifes... ) The body armour on the guards looks like our body armour except shaped for alien bodies. Because that type of armour is effective and easy to make.
And of course Aliens have corrupt officials, protests, and angry youths. Believing in elves, ghosts, and vampires is one thing. Believing in a world where everyone is nice- That's fantasy!

I definitely agree with the last part XD
Its possible there would be more peaceful aliens, just as sloths are pretty chill to each other, but I imagine there might be some just as nasty as us!

I am not saying all other intelligent races are going to be as bad as us. I am saying no race is going to be perfect even if they are 'better' than us. The benefit of cheating is just too big.

I have the feeling that some fundamental instincts (food, agreeable temperatures, social dominance, etc.) might prove universal. More peaceful and enlightened aliens wouldn't be that way because the instincts didn't exist, they'd simply do a better job of reining them in in favor of reason, like Star Trek's Vulcans.
I like how you're using an alien civilization (especially one so utterly alien) as a mirror of our own civilization and its problems. Most of the best science fiction functions that way, and that was Gene Roddenberry's intention with Star Trek. Rod Serling turned to science fiction on The Twilight Zone because he couldn't tell the kinds of stories attacking social injustice directly without the networks heavily censoring them, or even nixing them completely.

But unlike the Birrin,, the Hivers head is not it's mouth that is located on the lower underside of the body.. maybe the two species would get along if they were a part of the same universe?? though it would appear that a Birrin is more agile then a Hiver but it would seem both are around the same technology level in a lot of areas...

All of a sudden, after months of staring at this amazing artwork (it's my computer and phone background; I love this thing so freakin much ), I noticed something that just doesn't click.
I'm sorry, but I have to point this out.
In the bottom right corner, there's an object which looks, for all the world, like a bullet casing. Yet nowhere in the painting is anyone carrying a gun, nor is there anything reminiscent of a gun-like projectile weapon lying around anywhere.
So why is it there?
Also, I swear to god that in the background somebody is holding a banner with the Pinterest logo on it. XD

The gun was fired by the main police line, which has retreated up the road behind the viewer.
The logo is a coincidence, since when I painted this I had never heard of Pinterest

Depends on which "private" industry you're referring to. Most of them only get away with horrible deeds after bending the government so that what they do is "legal" (but still wrong).
