Description My influence map..is full of pretty ladies. What can i say, they inspire me and influence my work.

And especially,

1. Rebecca Guay's ethereal paintings. They are so beautiful,i can stare at them for hours. It was very hard to choose but that one up there is probably one of my most favourites.I can almost hear the birds and music from her flute..
2. Alphonse Mucha's clean lines.And pretty ladies.
3. John William Waterhouse's paintings.I always found there's something slightly melancholic about his pictures and usually solitary women but that makes them even more enchanting to me.It makes me want to create such paintings that will make others wonder about the people in them.
4. Fantasy-medieval-ish illustrations.Ruth Sanderson (whose painting is up there) is one of my favourites on the field.
5. =Nachan is one of my favourite artists on Deviantart.A great inspiration when i began using watercolours,it was very hard to choose only one from her striking artworks but her portraits are my favourites and especially that one.
6. Fashion/portrait photography.I adore Annie Leibovitz's work, especially her celebrity portraits for Vanity Fair.
7,8. Portraits, the old school type. You know, kings and queens and other royalty.A duchess Millicent from Sutherland (by John Singer Sargent ) and Mary II of England (by Willem Wissing) always make me want to draw/paint something..if only as beautiful.
9. I'm sure that it has been pretty clear that the beauty of women is what inspires and influences my work (or the paintings including women that is) the most.Among those beauties who have influenced mine are many actresses, like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn but Bryce Dallas Howard..is what you could call my muse. Why do you think most of my women are redheads?
10. Ballet.Has been a great part of my life.A great love and inspiration,it has a big impact on my feelings and ideals and ideas.
11. Fashion illustration and particularly David Downton's illustrations.
12. Fantasy films, with Lord of the Rings making top.The colours and imagery and costumes (of the elves mainly) have certainly influenced my tastes.
13. Enya's music has been a never-ending source of inspiration. It has been many times that a particular song playing will affect the theme, colours and mood of a painting/drawing.
14. Film scores. They affect my mood and feelings and therefore my work. The soundtrack from Brideshead Revisited (2008) for example has produced many wistful and melancholic drawings. You really need to listen to [link] and [link] to understand..

..And lots of other things but they wouldn't fit all.

this is pretty much exactly what my inspiration map would look like. (though probably in a little different order haha)

I recommend Waterworld - Swimming It has that melancholy feel to it, but in a very beautiful way.

Hey, thank you! I would have never thought of it - and i've seen the movie 2-3 times - but it's a very beautiful piece indeed.

This is another one of those ones that I've (shamefully) been "saving" to comment on, because I had a lot to say about it. I'm not at all surprised that we seem to have a lot of the same influences (Waterhouse, Rebecca Guay, old-school portraiture, film scores...), and looking at your work you can see all of them very clearly, but in a way that's very clearly unique and "yours". Seconding the Bryce Dallas Howard love. She's got a very distinct, unusual type of beauty that's very close to my ideal, if I had such a thing defined anyway. Just listened to those two tracks from Brideshead Revisited (which I've never seen, so I've never heard the music) and my GOD that's beautiful (especially Sebastian). I can ABSOLUTELY see where you're getting your inspiration from there.

Re. Sargent- if you're ever stateside and in New England (haha, I have no idea if that'll ever happen! ), you should totally go to Boston because its various museums have a TON of Sargent artwork. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is FANTASTIC- mostly Renaissance art, and it's all set up in what used to be her house, but it's got some really stellar portraits all over. Gorgeous museum. The other thing that's worth looking at is the ceiling at the Museum of Fine Arts and the walls of the Boston Public Library, both with murals painted by Sargent. The ones in the MFA are all scenes from classical mythology, and the ones in the BPL are all from the Arthurian cycle. There are rooms in the Boston Public that I just want to hide out in forever and stare at all the figures.

I'm in agreement with all your points.

Also If you haven't checked out Dead Can Dance and Lisa Gerrard's solo and Collaborations stuff. You should have a listen. What comes from that woman's voice is beyond amazing.

Enya, the Lord of the Rings movies, film scores, ballet and Mucha are all awesome. I can really see the influence of all the things you've listed in your art. I just happen to agree completely with those. (I listen to the Lord of the Rings score often, and the Harry Potter scores... and the score of Coraline... and others. )
