Description
Skin is fascinating, this is not a skin tones tutorial but more of a skin optics kinda thing. Btw I never went to art school or whatever, so erm, this is not the absolute word on the topic, just a collection of thoughts.For info about what brushes I use check out the Blending Tutorial:[link]
I'm using Photoshop CS2 and Wacom Intuos 2 for this.
Edit: apologies to those of you who are freaked out by the little skin balls, hahahahaha, sorry really

Very nice, useful tutorial - though I wasn't really freaked out by the skinballs until I got to the veiny one on the bottom! :S

This is really amazing, I never came across a tutorial like this. I'm glad I did now, this is very insightful. The lighting and transparency bits are my faves. Great job on this!

Just sweet! This is really helpfull! And... yeah, it's kinda weird seing small skin balls, but its better to show the effects on the skin, right?

Excellent tutorial. Skin is a pain to get to look realistic, but this covers the subject pretty well. Thanks so much. <3

I dont draw or paint realism, but am thinking about it, so I decided to look at this and
omg its so realistic it almost scares me, to see the skin in a sphere and have all those details
you are amazing i love you ; _ ;

That is an incredibly useful tutorial, however, it would be nice if someone did something like this with darker-skinned humans.
If you have the time, I'd challenge you to do that. =3
