Actually you're wrong on that, the Batman did use guns in the Golden age back when Bob Kane first envisioned him. Maybe it's best for you to stick with Spiderman with that knowledge (or lack-there-of) Just sayin.
Besides, it looks like the artist made homage to the fact that Batman has an EMP neutralizer as shown on the EMPIRE covershoot. An EMP isn't a gun.

Didn't know that it was an EMP Neutralizer. I know from time to time Batman uses things shaped like guns, but never the kind with Bullets.
I'm just saying the Batman I know, would never use a gun. That's what I grew up with...So you can't tell me who I'd best stick with. =_= ...I'm not like a bunch of narrow-minded fans who go Marvel OR DC or stick with only one thing. I like alot of things.

Exactly why I don't like the current movies...
I've liked Batman since I was little with the original movies and Batman the Animated Series.
...Having Batman use a gun is just wrong. That goes against every last thing he stands for. Batman doesn't use Guns because that's what killed his Parents.
I doubt that's some kind of Tranquilizer Gun he's using in those pics...
I'm stickin' with The Avengers and Spidey this summer.

I don´t think it's completely bad if the history hold it. Grant Morrison, for exemple, made Batman use a gun against Darkseid
There´s no other way...and the character got a lot weight making something that cost him so much in order to save lifes.
Batman don´t like to be Batman at all, but it´s something that has become completly necessary.

Well, now that I know the gun isn't the kind of killing gun, I'm good with it. I haven't kept up with the current Batman movie stuff because I frankly don't really like the current movie series for personal reasons and opinions so I won't get into that.
An EMP Gun...Yeah, Batman would use that.
I don't really pay attention to DC's Comics either, mostly because they change their continuity WAY too much for my liking. I more like their animated stuff like Batman the Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited. ^^
