"OK, so how about the JTR? Did Elsa make a good time?" Andy was really pushing to get the whole story. Kara felt like she might give him a bit more than just the basics. Maybe not the blood and gore, but she was being pestered, and her manager needed to pay for making her do this.
"Well, all cats have bad days. She made a good run, objectively, but I felt like she wasn't in her A-game." Andy was about to go over to the next question, she had only given him short answers up to now, but she cut him off before he could open his mouth. "You see, I think it's shit that they have the test race. It's stressful on the mediocre jockeys because for them a bad day means not getting your SPC, and then the cat is worthless, and then because most jockeys are mediocre that means most cats are stressed too. It's a shitstorm. A cat can have amazing conformation but on the track you only get one shot and with the wrong jockey you can really fuck things up. And it's not the catsβ faults. We lose a lot of good cats from the breeding scene because they only have this test. And to say that the free will can make up for it, it's bullshit. Most often if a jockey comes back from a failed JTR they will over work the cat making it so that they have a million more problems with obedience then they had before, they ruin the cat and then they take a poor free will." She had shown some of her fire there, and apparently Andy got pulled in because he immediately asked a follow-up question.
"But isn't it good for skilled jockeys that there isn't much competition because talented cats fall out when they have mediocre riders?" Kara gave him a murderous look. This was part of the darkness of the sport. Since there was money involved most people on the shedu scene didn't care for shedus, and the fact that not the best cats were in the breeding programs was a huge part of the majorityβs priority of money above the priority of the animals. She hated it, and she knew this was a huge part in the existence of the illegal street races scene. The blind and deaf cats were a part of this. Much of the breeding was done irresponsible and the cats suffered. The silence in the studio was pressing, and Andy gave a nervous laugh. He's just as much of a scumbag as all the other leeches on the sport, Kara thought. "Soo... were there any other cats there that day that you noticed?" He was desperately trying to get the nice mood back, Kara had put her back against the seat and had her arms crossed. If this had been a club, she would have had made sure to get into a fight with this asshole. Would suit him nicely to lose a few teeth.
"She had her JTR at the same time as Incubus, and he had an fine career after that." She said it short and almost provoked Andy. Maybe they could still have a fight outside when the interview was over.
