Description Figured I'd do this one since everyone else is |B not that you can really tell since I barely submit art. If you didn't believe the countless times I've said I have bad taste here's a bit more proof.

I tried to keep my selections limited to things I know have influenced my art style and story ideas. Some things I still consider cool, others not so much. They all had some impact though so they're all important; I tried to give a bit of background on each so it's a bit tl;dr but try to bear with me.
-------------------------
Slightly Damned: SD gets the biggest portion (eight squares!) because it made me want to start drawing my own characters and do a web comic of my own in the first place. I love the art, story, and characters, and I'm pretty sure the comic will keep influencing me for a while. Also through the SD community I met tons of people who have been able to help me with my techniques and style, so it's a two-fer.

Grayling: Good stuff man. Through the years the comic's style changed a lot, but it was always fantastic. The characters were likable dicks, the character designs were interesting, and the story was very well written, if a bit convoluted at times (I'd keep kissing arby's butt, but there's a lot more to talk about *w*)

Sailor Moon: Don't look at me like that! Sailor Moon was one of the few anime I was exposed to as a young kid; I mean who wasn't influenced by this? Looking back I can't say it's held up well but for some reason I still enjoy watching it

Butch Hartman: I seriously considered giving this a bigger portion. I watched The Fairly Odd Parents (and later Danny Phantom) all the time when I was younger; I can't say I was crazy about the shows but how I draw stuff reflects this a lot. I think my tendency to draw exclusively in three-quarter views when I was starting out and my continued use of thick lines probably came from here.

VG Cats: The first webcomic I ever read. God I don't know what I was thinking, being so crazy for Ramsoomair's stuff; it's embarrassing but you can't change the past. The reason this is here is because it got me interesting in drawing as a hobby a few years ago. I used to draw Leo all the time in my school notebooks, and a few of my character designs show his influence.

MÄR: I can't say much on the plot of the anime (it's been a while and I don't know how it's held up), but I've taken a lot from the character designs of this show. The concept of the ÄRMs also stuck in my mind for some reason, and I liked the main character's personality |B not much more to it.

Hive: A miserable pile of bees. Most if not all of the really good art advice I've gotten is from these crazy people, always ready with a horrifying true story and words of wisdom. All glory to the hive \*w*/

Fantasia: Disney in general was a huge part of my childhood, but nowadays Fantasia 2000 has been the biggest influence on my work, if only for the Firebird sequence at the end. Really it's here to represent how music has had an effect on what and how I draw. Music is my inspiration a great deal of the time; I used to be a musician and I visualize best when there's great sound going on.

One Piece: I got my first exposure from the 4kids dub (even back then I thought it was great), then many years later discovered online fansubs, and soon after FUNimation's dub and the manga. I've drawn a fuckton of inspiration from One Piece in terms of style and storytelling, and it's easily my favorite anime and manga of all time. The characters are entertaining, the setting is interesting, and it's just plain wacky and fun.

Pokémon: Another one that could probably use a bigger portion. Since 1999 when I got my copy of Red Version I've never stopped being a Pokénerd; since Gen II there hasn't been a single main game I haven't owned. I watched the anime on-and-off for a while, religiously during most of Johto and early Hoenn, then I fell off again sometime during the DP arc.

Lost Odyssey: Not one of the best JRPGs, but I love it rationality be damned. A mediocre plot and mostly traditional/stale gameplay are offset by a set of interesting characters and a gorgeous world design. The nations have vastly different aesthetics and the magitek looks awesome; probably the number one reason I choose to do a steam/clockpunk fantasy setting.

Ratchet and Clank: Not much to say here other than I liked the first two games, which are the only ones in the series I've played. I liked Ratchet's character design so aspects of it show up a lot in my non-human OCs.

Zatch Bell: Despite overuse of the power of friendship and similar themes I loved the anime while it aired on Toonami. Its take on spellcasting was pretty unique and it was WILD; the characters were zany and the facial expressions and face faults were great. Cute, full of energy, and a lot of fun; drama too, as much as it could have some.

deviantART: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't influenced by all the other artists on dA. Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing is up for debate.

Girl Genius: Not so much in terms of artistic style or aesthetics, but I LOVE the story. Very solid continuity, loads of suspense, and great characters make this webcomic one of my favorites. When I was planning what kind of story I wanted to tell, this is probably the reason I chose to do alternate history.

Emergency Exit: I don't read it anymore, but EE was another of my first webcomics. Can't really say much more other than I referenced the comic a lot when I was beginning to draw seriously. It had a cool dual-continuity thing going with Parallel Dementia for a while but when that comic was discontinued it was pretty much the end of it for me.

Artemis Fowl: Man I used to love those books. The Graphic Novel version of the first book was another place I went to reference when I was just starting to draw. I couldn't touch the series now though.

Colors: No seriously. Bright, colorful objects, paintings, etc. set me off and who knows how much of what I've thought up was due to having a space-out while staring at pretty colors. I'll admit that most of what I used to like (and still like) is because it was colorful and sparked my imagination.

I decided I wanted to use the most inappropriate representation of Grayling possible and Cartoon Heroes was too big (*w*)b
