Last but not least... Thor Odinson meets Grant Farrell - the first 'Thor, God of Thunder' in the comics!
The first issue of "Weird Comics" released by Fox Comics in April 1940 featured The Origin of That Thor. Grant Farrell was chosen by the Norse god as protector of Midgard, granting the mortal the powers of the God of Thunder, transforming him into the new Thor! This happened in the comics 22 years before Stan Lee's creation and artist Jack Kirby appeared in Journey into Mystery #83.
Obviously, because they are characters based on Thor the "god of thunder" of Norse mythology, there are several interpretations in several publishers over the years... (even DC Comics presented their first version of Thor in 'Batman' #127 of October 1959! Poor DC... I would never have imagined that, soon after, the future House of Ideas would have a version of the God of Thunder with such success!). But we've chosen Thor's first depiction as a superhero in comics to star on this cover. Did you know this character from the Golden Age...
