Description
In fact I´ve called this "Macrocosm/microcosm", but the "/" can´t be used in the title. This is one of the most difficult to paint images I've done so far (and it´s almost 3 years ago).
For reference I took a book with fotos that are made with a scanning electron microscope. So, not a single part of the insects came from my imagination - they all do exist!
Acrylics on watercolour cardboard, 40cm x 59cm (16" x 23") and about 70 hours of drawing and painting

realy nice to show a part of life on earth with no human or artificiel creation. For me ant are the most impressive animals on this world. great drawing!

What's this "microscope" you talk about? You mean to tell me there's stuff you can't see with the naked eye? Witchcraft! Witchcraft I say!
BTW the detail is brilliant and your mix of realism and surreal is unique.

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw this (besides "This is a really amazing painting") is "Yes! Insects taking over the world!" Which, essentially with all their numbers, is quite possible if indeed the world was scaled more to their size. I love insects, used to study them. Although giant insects would freak me out. Nice work

Thanks a lot!
(and I don´t think insects have to be giant to conquer the world - partly they already have done it! )

That is a lot of detail. Impressive. I can see why it was such a difficult piece but you did a great job with the subject and theme.

really amazing picture, you must have the patience of a saint. I love that the background continues the theme in an understated way.
