Description
Year: 2010Client: Private Commission
Media: Pencil, PITT pen, COPIC marker, Berol Prismacolor pencil on 13.5" X 8.5" Strathmore Drawing paper
This is the sketch for the guaranteed eBay sketch done for Baltimore Comic-Con. Before anyone asks "You did this at a show?" - I didn't. I worked on it from home, and took a day on it. The winner is a friend of mine, so I wanted it to be extra awesome with chocolate sauce and jimmies.
Also, Mantis is an old-school AVENGERS character. I have no idea what her deal is, especially those things coming off her head. I infodumped my childhood.

Weird Compliment but, boobs are easy to draw, but hard to perfect. You did it
I like.

What kind of scanner do you use? And do you anything to the image in PS or another program? Anything to smooth out the lines, tones, etc?

I have an Epson 836XL scanner. Sometimes a scan needs to be cleaned up in PS, but this Mantis piece is a straight scan with no PS fiddling.

Thanks!

lol You're welcome. I've always enjoy your work. I even have a poster of the big, uh, blue eyed Power Girl that you did. Also a signed Catwoman.

She is known as the Celestial Mother who would birth the Savior of the Universe. Her beloved was the Swordsman.

I like it. I've read copics were good but I didn't know they could make such watercolor like marks.

I Adam, i love your work, your lines are great and the style is amazing.
I want to ask you, how brand of Pitt Pen are you using with copics, cause mines are a mesh when i draw with my copics over it, and the whole drawing gets wet again.
Mines are Staedler. Are you using Faber CastleΒ΄s pens or something like this?

Those are her little headpiece thingies on her hair beret originally.
(Mantis never made sense before, or with, the whole "Celestial Madonna" storyline...)
My question has always been: "How the heck does that top stay on?"
If she was raised in a monastery in the Himalayas, where did they get all the spirit gum to hold that thing on? And she does martial arts in it too?
Awful lot of spirit gum....

The way you render with markers is soo amazing! and you dont use so many colors but yet you convey the information in basic strokes
