Year: 2011Client: DC Comics & SONY
Media: Media: Pencil, PITT Pen and COPIC marker on Strathmore Drawing paper, then colored with Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Here's my UNCHARTED cover, done for SONY as a giveaway poster at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, and then used as a variant cover for DC Comics' UNCHARTED comic last month. The Drake face is different than the poster version: I redid it because I didn't think I came close to the way Drake looks in the game. This is a little closer, but it usually takes me 5 to 7 attempts before I get close to a character.
I love the UNCHARTED games. This cover was designed as an homage to Drew Struzan's INDIANA JONES movie posters. Imagine my surprise when Drew himself was standing at my table at San Diego, saying hi and thumbing through my portfolio...

I kinda agree with the others that something's off about Drake. I think it could be the eyes are too narrow, makes him more serious-looking than the Drake we all know and love.
Other than that, it's a great piece--definitely has the Struzan look to it!

Why does Drake look so much like that one guy who played Batman for 2 movies? It makes him look a bit more like Marcus Fenix than the game version of Drake. Besides that, love the cover.

I am excited! For christmas, I am getting the first 2 Uncharted games.. then for my birthday I am getting the 3rd (which is less than a month later). Actually my dad got me the 3rd one first.. but I said, give me the first 2 (with a bonus controller for christmas) as I like to play games in order. I can't believe I haven't gotten into these games sooner.

I saw this floating around on Tumblr a while back and didn't know what for at first. At first glance of the faces I thought it was a cover for a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" comic since the two leads look like Buffy and Angel and Mustache Man at the bottom kinda looks like an older Xander trying to play cool. Huh. Guess not.

May I ask: Is the whole composition on one piece of paper, or do you sketch the layout and then do the individual components separately and assemble them in photoshop, for greater flexibility?
