Perhaps they need him 'active' to perform the experiments and measure his powers. Perhaps they simply can't sedate him

For the former, i'd imagine only waking him up for said experiments and putting him back to sleep afterwords would do the trick.
For the latter... i'd assume keep adding more sedatives till he gets knocked out. He surely can't be immune to toxins and there has to be a middle-ground between consciousness and death even if he's resistant, i'd assume.

Nice analysis Well, he's a character from one of my personal projects. In the story, he actually volunteered to be kept in a special laboratory in order to avoid any damage that his powers can cause in the outside world. He's the first of his kind. He also allowed the scientists to examine him and try to detect the source of the powers. However, when the world is threatened by a mysterious cyber-terrorist, police has eventually no choice but to ask the psionic for help.

If I have some free time, I'll prepare some other concepts from the story. Cheers.

Not in prison, it is a lab. He may go but not want to, because would not be save for outside world.

This cyber-terrorist force his hand and make him step out his save zone. Then you have the selflless powerfull man, maybe little naive, goin out to catch the dangerous cyber-terrorist (how may be a selfless martir himself, only less naive; or just the oposite, a pure  bad guy four-colors. Any way you have the conflict to advance the story). Cyber versus Psyonic.

In that case I would like to complicate that sistem inserting some grey magic. Not working for any side, but trying to use both to change something, or avoid something to change. A  middle ground between the central conflit, were someone cynical  would look the "good" and the "evil" as "equivalent players".

...but that, of course, is my style to think. 


Any way, nice story. I will be waiting to see it finished.
