Description
Commission from C2E2 2015; Pencil. In interesting request. It was specified: Old Snake and Samus are getting together for a cup of coffee and to tell some war stories as the old man's life winds down. There was something I really liked about that concept, and not just because it gave me a chance to draw my badass Samus again.

I think there needs to be a prequel pic of this, like where
Samus finds Snake at the cemetary like in MGS4, but set after
the events of Snake's victory & Big Boss's passing.

I think a whole series could be neat to see, charting their meeting and friendship. Maybe he and Meryl came across her ship in the Alaskan snowfields after fleeing Outer Heaven in MGS1.

Liquid renamed it Outer Heaven at the end. It was going to be the reignition of Big Boss' dream.

I know, but Liquid's dead now. he's practically
irrelevant since this is now about David/Solid Snake
& Samus Aran

A wonderfully tender piece of work. Β It's great to see art that can show a non-romantic relationship in such a powerful way.
Fun note: one of my best friends cosplays as Samus, and I cosplay Snake from MGS3. Β Sometimes I feel like the old man in our group, totally losing touch with kids today, and she's always more "in the know" at conventions. Β So this work has an extra meaning for me. Β Thank you for posting it!

Thank you. This is the kind of art I like to make - it tells a story and tries to convey a feeling (or feelings). I'd much rather be making art that tells or implies a story, even just through an excess of personality in the figures, than just doing pinuppy stuff all day long.

I was looking to add some color to this but I'm wondering if I should contact the person that had it commissioned.

Technically, the commissioner doesn't own the image. They own that piece of art, but the image itself is still mine. Which is to say - color away! Just credit me back when you post it, and let me know because I'd love to see how it turns out.

They're probably reminiscing about Smash Bros Brawl too.
I really like this piece, it's actually touching to see these two together just chilling.

Thanks. I wanted it to feel sentimental, like a talk with Dad when you know he doesn't have much time left. Bittersweet.
