This was done on a render pass method.
each of the pass had a different render time.
As i could remember, the fastest was the shadow pass, under 4 minutes.
but the longest was the Ambient Occlusion took nearly 23hours.
the resolution i rendered was 2K wide.
The spec on my machine while building this was
Dual Opteron 64 processors,
4Gigs of ECC Reg Ram
6600GT NVidia
and aroun 1TB of HD.

Thais is awesome! I do 3d and digital painting, so I'm interested in giving it a shot. Got any general tips before I dive into it?

Hi Eviolinist..
sorry been busy and havent have time checkin DA..
general tips..?
what matters the most to me about titanic is SIZE BEAUTY and LUXURY.
the lighting is farmost the important role to get the massive size of titanic..otherwise it would look like a minature/toy.
ive tried nearly 2 weeks to get the lightings rite..and to be honest this isnt final..im still going to retouch it and add more detail to it..
thanks

Hey, no problem, and thanks.
I actually meant tips on the general kind of artwork of 3d into 2d. At what point did you start using photoshop, probably like the third picture? Thanks.

Hey..thanx for the comments.
i modeled nearly 38 different poses for the characters..using simple low poly modeling techniques. pose them differently.. and scatter them all over the scene.

Cool, how low poly are they?

adittoro In reply to Zac-Donald [2007-08-07 03:39:44 +0000 UTC]
low poly so in average of 900 or so people in that scene it self has less than 500.000 poly in total for all the characters..
some variations of characters wears hat, and there are small sized characters (childrens) also waving at the deck of the ship hanging on to the handle bars..
i forgot how much poly a single character was but it was so low poly modeling. very2 lite.
thanx again.
