Description This is my submission to 's Fairytale contest. I decided to depict the story of "The Blue Bird" with Florine and Prince Charming, which originated in France. It's a tale of jealous stepmothers, witches curses, gifts of jewels from an ensorcelled Prince, and a trial of 4 eggs that eventually reunites the two lovers together. Read more here .

And yes, I may have based Prince Charming on Benedict Cumberbatch...Can you blame me?

I agree. IΒ did struggle with the border a bit, because for whatever reason I felt it would be a good idea to do the border FIRST. Then I was stuck with the dilemma of all the colors I wanted to use for the main piece, already being used. Can't really lighten pen once it's down! Maybe I'll tinker with it a bit in Photoshop. Who knows!

I blame the scanner. Scanners are notorious for destroying a picture's colour. :/

oh this is absolutely lovely! The border/embelishments are so well done and detailed, without them overpowering and "stealing the show". Also Florine's pose and expression are amazing
