I guess his dad fused with his zanpakutou too, since he also lost his shinigami powers (I remember Urahara and Ishida's dad said something like: Did your powers come back?) and he knew about the last form.

ICHIGO SOOO COULD HAVE BEATEN AIZEN!! He could have just wiped him out in one shot when he was using Mugetsu. He could have possibly beaten Aizen went he had his zanpakuto chain fusion thing! He had so many chances!
I don't think he's lost his powers forever. He'll get them back just like Uryu did. Isshin will teach him again or something. ICHIGO CAN'T LOSE HIS POWERS!

I don't read the manga much, I prefer watching the anime, but my friend tells me each week what's happened and these last few weeks I've been really shocked and confused as to what's going on. The fact that he's lost all of his powers just seems like an odd thing to put in.
