The Four Quadrants of Troll Romance:Heart - Matesprit
The "Flushed" Quadrant, a romantic relationship based on mutual love and complementing personalities. Boring!
Spade - Kismesis
The "Caliginous" Quadrant, a romantic relationship based on mutual hate and rivalry. Much more interesting!
Diamond - Moirail
The "Pale" Quadrant, a platonic relationship meant to balance out two very different personalities.
Club - Auspitice
The "Ashen" Quadrant, a three-part relationship where one person serves as the mediator between two others.

I find the quadrants very interesting. I wish that "human" relationships could more often fall under the 4 quadrants.
I find human love and relationships boring, because there stereotypically is a lack of other elements than love.

On the contrary - Human relationships often have elements of all the quadrants. We all have things about our partners that we hate. We all have ways in which we balance each other out, and lots of us have a friend who both sides can go to when they need help. All the quadrants do is give names to those different aspects, and seperate them out into their own kinds of relationship.

Love as per human terms, explains itself
Spade: Kismesitude
Love that exists out of true hate, and rivalry. They maintain said rivalry because doing otherwise would ruin the relationship. Even if one gets a chance, they would not kill the other because they feel that the relationship should stay, and killing them would end the fun. Example: Spades Slick and Snowman, Jack Noir and the black queen. (yes, same people, different sessions, I KNOW)
Diamond: Moirailallegiance
A relationship meant for balance, typically referred to as an affection for siblings
Club: Auspitism
Similar to kismesitude, however it does not balance itself out. One person (or both) actually WANTS to kill the other, but a third individual, the mediator, keeps the two in check.

(act one and two are primarily humans, no trolls whatsoever, act three is when the trolls will begin to troll them through timelines and shenanigans like that, and act four is when I switch over to the trolls completely, giving them a nice time in the spotlight)

The problem with Kismesitude is that it has to be true hate, PURE hate.
You need to hate someone so much that you find joy in hating them, as you would find joy in loving someone in Matespritship.
In that manner, one would have to hate the person to a point where you want them to live, and to survive, just so you can keep the rivalry alive. And also, the problem is, they have to hate YOU to that degree as well. Otherwise it falls apart. And THAT is why it is VERY difficult to establish a lasting kismesitude relationship.

Why do people think the quadrants are so complicated? Matesprit = true love, Kismisis = nemesis, Moirail = Best friend, Auspitice = Unbiased friend for both ♥ and ♠

Because they truly are, if you think about it.
Matespritship is the only simple one, because humans naturally experience it, experiencing joy from loving someone (near opposite of kismesitude).
Kismesitude is complicated. It is not JUST a nemesis, it is true, pure, hate. It is hating someone SO MUCH that you derive JOY out of hating them, taunting them, causing them misery. You consider hating them a game, and to defeat them, or kill them, would end the game, and the fun.
Moirailallegiance is slightly less complicated, it deals with a type of "affection for siblings", not necessarily a best friend. Typically moirails would help each other balance their personalty's a bit, to keep them from being too polar. They typically support each other in that sense.
Auspitism is another strange form, comparable to a destabilized kismesis in the way that they don't try to keep the game alive, they don't hate them to that point, they want the other dead, or they want to defeat the other. In that sense, a third individual comes in and keeps balance, they are the ones that stop the two from killing/defeating each other, they take the place of the excess hate for the other.
Yes, they are complicated in the sense that they are NOT naturally experienced by humans on most cases (it has to be a form of love) (YES, TRUE HATE IS LOVE, YES, AUSPITISM IS LOVE)
