We've skipped some time;
Leaf hasn't really left her home/room in that time. She had her pokemon in their pokeballs because she was too scared to let them out and face them. John has gone to see her and Danny after work nearly every day.
And after trying to convince Leaf to let her team out and it would be okay, ended up actually taking them back to the Ranger base where, at least, they weren't locked in their pokeballs (which is bad for pokemon). They don't appreciate it though.
Jetta especially. X'D
And yeah, part of Leaf's problem right now is not knowing when her dad is just going to leave and not come back. Which is why she's keeping a guarded distance.

My first thoughts upon seeing this were 'Did Arnold shrink?'. He seems smaller in these panels than in your previous ones. And is Leaf growing her hair back out? It was rather odd seeing her with a ponytail.
Max is beautiful, I love the way you portrayed the salamence, much better than it might have been. The wings are downright gorgeous--what made you decide on the Monarch wing design?--and I like the scale-pattern/plating on his chest. Seeing how he loomed over Arnold, and Arnold looking up at him, also strikes me as cute for some reason.
So dragon-types don't have longevity in this series?
The father-daughter discussion and bonding moment was cute. I enjoyed how John immediately noticed the things out of place on his desk and his perplexed reaction made me snicker. Seeing the recap and summary of what each of Leaf's Gym Badges represented was both interesting and enlightening.

Yes and no? She's letting it go right now while she lays around the house super depressed. :'D
Butterfly Salamance is the only acceptable Salamance. It took me a whole week to come up with it. I just chose that because it was the most recognizable "that is def a butterfly design".
And nah. I mean, they might get a couple more years, but longevity depends more on how often the pokemon battles.
They're both so cute.

I must agree wholeheartedly, I'm rather disappointed with the official wing design for the Salamance, I mean, they could have made it like a draco lizard and have it look cool, but now, they decided to go with spectacularly uninspiring.
I also must say I like how you perceive and translate the basic pokemon designs, your results are always a treat.
So which way does it go? They battle more and they live longer if they're not killed, or they live longer if they don't fight?

Salamance's wings don't make a lick of sense. "Hurr durr I have plane wings that can't get me off the ground because my legs are stubby too"

Ah.
It's Mega Form is even worse. I mean, even the Lati's make some sense because they're psychic, but Salamance? In reality I suspect that they'd be gliders rather than actual fliers, sort of staying true to their Bagon roots.

Salamance was in the running but I wasn't sure if I wanted to use it or not (because that design is awful)
but I thought that if I worked with it long enough, I could come up with something cool

I just love seeing people's originality apply to pokemon, it not only looks awesome but it gives them a personality to differentiate themselves from other pokemon.

I'm doing a Wedlocke for my Alpha Sapphire, and it's fun. Just finished training my Goldeen to lv 33 this morning(Took forever considering I caught her @ lv 5) and I beat Flannery.

I really appreciate that Leaf and John are trying to make their father-daughter relationship work.
Honestly, I had some struggles with my dad and he still travels a lot, so I really empathise with what's going on for them and can say that it feels real and natural, at least from my point of view.
Leaf's growth has been incredible, she's the kind of character that I would actually love to meet and hang out with. This story really illustrates her growth so well.
I feel like everyone will say this, but: the design for that salamence is incredible. It also would fit perfectly with it's mega evolution, bigger butterfly wings!
