A meme I made a while back that I felt would fit this meme. Thomas the Tank Engine, and The Little Mermaid. Two very different pieces of media that have very little in common, except for one thing. Both of them became victims of bad faith criticism that came from the mouths of out of touch normies who don't know a damn thing about what they're really about.Whether it's saying that Ariel is a terrible role model who gave up her ocean life for a man she knew nothing about, or The Island of Sodor being an oppressive, authoritarian wasteland run by a ruthless dictator, it's enough to piss anyone off who loves these franchises dearly.
Also I like to point out, Ariel...like a lot of Mermaid characters, has been seen as an Aspie-coded character. Sharing a lot of traits someone on the spectrum would have....could that explain my sudden hyperfixation on mermaids? Thomas is also very popular with autistic people.
Huh...maybe these two do have more in common than I thought...
