Here is *ReQuay ’s Shedu cat Castien ! I haven’t drawn big cats in ages so anatomy might appear a bit canine or equine like even if I used a reference for pose and anatomy. But this was so much fun to draw although (or maybe because) it took a while to ponder how do I manage to color Castien’s multicolored fur decently.
I have drooled those cats for a while but before considering getting one myself I want to see if I can even draw them. So, more cats (and also deers!) to come! Feel free to post a link to your own Shedu or Fawnling here .

Yeah, mixing colored pencils gets difficult when paper decides not to take in any more colors.
That's why I like to use also watercolors and markers - mixing can be done with them and then I can just add details with colored pencils.

I usually dont mix tose becase idk, whenever i try, something gets messed up much XD

I try to widen my knowledge of drawing different creatures and these big cats have both realistic and fantasy elements which makes them interesting to draw.

I can see that "equine" in the pose, and I can see the canine in the muzzle, but as its a fantasy species it gets a pass on that.
If you want to nail big cat poses I suggest you go on youtube and watch lions, tigers, leopards, and jaguars walk, run, and move. It'll give you very good real life references. Its what I've been doing while planning the animations for

That's a good tip, I should spend a while studying those animals to understand them better. Even if I don't animate I can see that understanding their movements could benefit still pictures also.
I actually found a DVD about tigers from our bookshelf, I have no idea where it has come from but maybe I can start my studies by watching it.

I did have to work, and it was crazy busy, but I got to enjoy some fun time with family at the end of the day. And my sis (EspressoOnTheRocks) and I are getting to have some fun today, so it's all good.

OK, back to proper commenting... and telling you how much I just LOVES LOVES LOVES this!!!
Castien looks so amazing in your style. It's such a fun and dynamic pose, full of energy and movement. His facial expression is so delightful and I love how you draw them kitty faces! I don't know how you managed to make his colors and markings look so perfect (especially traditionally), but you absolutely nailed them! And his fur, I love his fur, and the gorgeous full mane you drew. His fluffy tipped ears!!!
There really are just not enough words to tell you how much I love all of this, including the gorgeous colored/textured backdrop.
Do you use a mask (to preserve the area of the cat when you add the background)? How you do create such a well defined border without having the watercolor mess up the creature?

Christmas was great and happy and relaxing and great pause from all the work hassle. But I am happy to return back to daily routines on Monday; I think I got my batteries loaded with chocolate and all other good foods well enough.
I was thinking about drawing Thalion at first (he is so goooorgeous) but then I thought Castien's colors would be funnier to try. Must love all those sliding colors he has! I was also happy to find out he had such cute fluffy tipped ears. 
What comes painting the background, I used masking fluid some years ago but it is so tedious to apply so I have given up of it. Nowadays I just paint quickly around the character, changing brush size smaller near character edges. When paint is still wet, it is quite easy to fix if you happen to paint too far from character (leaving white spaces between character and bg) or even over the creature. I am usually quite careful but as you can see here, there is some white paper showing through near Castien's tail. I wanted to be quick and sketchy so I didn't go back and fix those.

And I am very impressed at your painting skills. I don't even notice the mistakes you point out, and it just looks perfect to me. You've gotten quite good at making watercolors work for you (and look like they stay where they are supposed to). It's very impressive.

I'm very excited to have some new beauties... and I can't wait to draw Miriel (that was awesome that you happened into the join.me at just the right time)! I have one HARPG show entry I have to get done (deadlines and all) and then I can switch modes to kitty cats for a little bit.
