Now that's something you don't really see ever!!!
This would be (close) to the first time or second we've ever seen a human being actually DO Something, (Actually engage the Pokemon!) instead of barking orders to his soldier like a general from a far safe distance!
This would totally What The F(BLEEP!)-ify and potentially scare or annoy the Fr*ck out of any pokemon/legendary being in question and would probably be perceived as a total enigma for all of Pokemon and mankind!
And would forever be remembered!
Cause this level of courage and magnitude of ballz that completely goes against all better judgement/Knoledge/wisdom would highly likely classify Gold as insane.
And would give Lugia a full head on display of endemic Human insanity that barely knows any limits! Or perhaps even this incredulity is STILL...Just a small Sample of that magnanimous insanity!...
But that will be a good form of insanity only if: On the condition He Lives... to tell the tale/event OR... captures Lugia. Or if unsuccessful; Could for good measure pluck off a feather of the beast for some solid proof of performing the said action.
I'd probably lack the spine to do something like this!
Especially with no armour or some form of safety net or back up plan/escape plan!

I love pictures where Gold is an idiot. (Hence why I love the manga so much. Gold is an all powerful IDIOT in it. (That Gold would actually be strong enough to battle Lugia, but he's an idiot enough to try battling with just his Togepi, or something. Or battle without Pokemon at all.))

Weirdly, Togepi was one of his strongest Pokemon.
(The only explanation for this is that it's Gold's special power to amp up baby Pokemon.)
