I attempted to implement aspects of the blues, whites and oranges throughout the piece, and I'd thought I'd failed. I'm glad you don't seem to think so.

No, I think you did a nice job of it. I think that if you had included more of the orange outside of the fish, it would have pulled the eye away too much. The way you did it, it's just enough to integrate the colors and still keeps both characters distinct.
