Β I've read that he was terrible in real life too.Β I like the show and don't live far from the museum and go every now and again.

Yep Β Yeah, it's too bad, but what amazing acting from the both of them.Β Hopefully she did give him a slap!Β Of course, it was a different time with different morals, so she probably didn't, but I can't see her standing around and taking it!

I love Lucille Ball I miss her I wish she never died she was the queen of comedy she had her own television studio and sold it to Paramount In 1967 divorced with Desi Arnaz in 1960 after their marriage didn't turn out good, in 1951 Desilu Studios was founded CBS' New logo was designed and I Love Lucy premiered in the fall of 1951 one of the greatest TV shows of all time. In 1989 Lucille Ball complained about chest pain and the ambulance came later and she was sent to the hospital, and a few days later she died. π R.I.P. Lucille Ball (1911-1989) we will always remember you as the first lady to own her very own studio and for being the queen of comedy we will never forget you Lucille Ball.

Yeah, they played it so well.Β I watched the movie Lucy, I think it was called.Β How very sad.Β There may have been love lost but in a way it was still there, if that makes sense.

This show is too funny...that one where Lucy puts an alarm clock in the puppy's box and right when Lucy gets back in bed... the alarm went off and the puppy screamed and barked... it was so hard breathing. You don't find many quality shows like this one anymore!

I haven't seen that many of them, I do like the show and have been to the museum. Β It's a great show and you're right, you just don't find quality like it anymore and sadly, you won't find it again

A show that oddly enough never outstayed it's welcome - like Gleason's THE HONEYMOONERS.

It's definitely a classics staple! If you're a huge fan you must go see the Lucille Ball Museum in Jamestown, NY. I've been a few times, and love the living room and kitchen sets they have set up, plus some of Lucy's dresses and personal items. It's amazing in there.

That's cool~! Did you see the statue that's raising such a fuss?
And since I harp on & on about radio; you find episodes of "My Favorite Husband" on that radio echos site... It was the CBS sitcom that was the springboard for "I L L". The writers/Wilbur Hatch music/everything but Β Richard Denning transferred over. Even plots from the series were recycled, there was no Fred & Ethel type, but Mr. Atterberry (Gale Gordon) & his wife (Bea Benaderet) fill that role as the other couple.
Lucy wanted Gale Gordon for Fred Mertz, but he was by then under contract to the "Our Miss Brooks" franchise of films, radio & TV shows. He wouldn't get to work with her again until "Mr. Mooney" in the 1960's.Β
There is a radio episode of "I L L". It was thought they could do a franchise on radio (& TV) like "Our Miss Brooks", but apart from the one demo show, for Phillip Morris/CBS, it didn't materialize. That show is on Radio Echoes too!

I've seen photos of the statue, but I live only a few miles from the place where she was born and have been to the museum a few times.Β The statue really is quite ugly!Β It looks like a middle aged man with a bad face lift!
I will definitely have a listen to My Favorite Husband.Β Heard of it before but never heard it.
Wow, I never knew that ILL was going to be on radio as well, I'll have to search for that too.Β That would be an interesting listen!
Thanks!

I know--- Radio had it's merits as an entertainment medium....
If you have trouble finding them let me know, I have some very good copies of Β "Favorite Husband" "Love Lucy" & Β the Laurel & Hardy shows; I have re-recorded & done some sound improvements too...
