Yeeks, I'm going to have to clean out all the surplus tutorials I have in my favorites. This is one of the best ones I've found though. The only thing is, I'm not sure if my version of PS has the mask tool. I'm using Photoshop Elements. Which do you use?

^o^ That's so awesome, I've been trying to find a way to do lineart for a long while now since I don't have the patience to use the pen tool or to sit there with my tablet for hours on end.

I need to go hunt down my tracing paper now... XD

Small question, what do you do if you don't have a mask tool...? I hate Photoshop Elements, it doesn't have anything that everyone else seems to abuse.

You could try to load the channels as a selection if Photoshop elements has that. Then delete the lassoed areas. It'll give you a clean transparent lineart. But it might be too thin. Hope that helps.

Finally a tutorial explaining how to mask!^o^
Thank you~!
..I wonder if i can do this with PS Elements, PSP or Painter too...
Otherwise I'll just have to try and move my PS over to my own comp... Dx

And as in tracing paper, is it reaaally thin paper like copic marker pad paper? If you happen to know?
I wonder if you could also use baking paper.. >_>;

akemi-shuu In reply to einnn [2006-04-29 10:30:50 +0000 UTC]

I used Photoshop 7 for this, as long as any program have layers/mask, it should be able to work. Maybe have to twiddle around the program?? x3;;;;

I use regular tracing paper, A4 size and 50gsm. Any kind will do, it should be strong enough to take off the tape (as in, it won't tear when you peel the tape off) and it's clear enough to trace the lineart in. Plus it should be able to scan like regular paper, example that the bg is totally white. :3

einnn In reply to akemi-shuu [2006-05-07 15:35:54 +0000 UTC]

ooh, ok I'll play around with stuff and see if I get it to work

Hmm, then I'll try with copic pads. or wait a minute.. I just searched on google for tracing paper, and it looks like baking paper. then it will work fine. (only problem=I don't have a scanner anymore X_x)
But, you can still edit that in a program, the whiteness ^_^

Yup, I forgot to say that this is mostly for mouse users or those who don't do lineart directly on computer. 8D ;;;
