Description Part 2 of the steps I use to CG.

Note that all the tutorials I put up are made for mouse users. :3 But, tablet users are also welcome to try.
I'm not very good at explaining/pointing out things but if you wish for me to explain certain parts further, feel free to say so. (:

Warning: This time, it's pretty big. XD ;;;

for the original layer, everything is locked, try right clicking on the later and duplicating it ^^ that should let you play around with it ^^ just delete the original after you've duplicated it ^^

The one tutorial I understand! Thank you!!
Oh, one thing. Do you just clean up with erasers at the end? Because I saw a really complicated thing on another tutorial about how it would fix itself? With special layering. But I don't know...

Thanks :]]

From the screencap that says "the result should be something like this" to the next one that says "I've used a pinkish tone...", I don't see any difference between the pictures. Could you explain what all you did, please? Sorry for the trouble. Thanks!

akemi-shuu In reply to miratsuki [2007-03-24 09:08:45 +0000 UTC]

All I did was put them together in Photoshop (in different layers) then I saved as one image.

miratsuki In reply to akemi-shuu [2007-03-26 14:15:06 +0000 UTC]

im sry to ask so much >.< but could you explain how ??? because you said to put it into each layer but how do i place them nicely ??? and how do i save them in one whole image ?? sry for taking your time T.T i appreciate your reply ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

akemi-shuu In reply to miratsuki [2007-03-27 03:32:35 +0000 UTC]

I used Print Screen to capture each stage of the tutorial separately. Then, each time I want to paste the captured image in the PSD file for the tutorial, I create a new layer and paste the image in it. Then I use move tool to manipulate the image around the canvas.

It's actually quite basic Photoshop skills

You need a better explanation, because when I tried to color brown like that I only colored over the lineart o.O you need to explain how to prevent that. You know, when making a tutorial you must add every detail or it's useless.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

AureyH In reply to mazuhime [2007-02-05 18:50:36 +0000 UTC]

This tutorial has been written with a transparent BG on the lineart layer so colouring on a layer below the lineart won't affect the lineart. If I am to understand you correctly, your lineart should be on a white background. If so, change the lineart's layer mode to multiply, create a new layer below(important!) and colour on the new layer (The one below). Changing the lineart layer mode to multiply makes the white parts "transparent" allowing you to colour on the layer below it as if the white wasn't there at all. Hope this helps.

I don't really understand your question, so I'll answer in the two ways I intepreted it.

If you mean that when you color in the skin and it goes out of the lineart, the only way to prevent that is to stay on the inside of the lineart without touching the outside at all or simply erase the little bits away after you are done. This is quite common sense and I didn't feel the need to explain this small detail.

But if you mean that when you color and it totally covers the lineart, then I think you should pay attention to the order the layers are placed in. I have put up the necessary screencaps in the walkthrough itself, so it's quite self-explanatory. The tutorial is not about following step-by-step, it's concentrating on the technique on how to color the skin.

i've looked at an favourited both of your tuorials... believe me they will help me a lot, you've simplified enough to make it understandable and not used loads of technical terms which i doubt i would be able to understand.... thankyou! when my dads done formating my computer i will definatly be using these (the linart aswell) i didn't even know how to do linart until i read your tutorial! THANKYOU

I'm a photoshop beginner and your explanations in this one AND last one helped me so much!!
Thank you!!
I hope you make more tutorials!
I'll be waiting!

ps- how do you drop down shadows in your tutorial?
I was bit confused;;
and I was having bit of trouble of smoothing out the rest of the skin..;
and lastly, how do you get rid of white parts and the skin color that went over the clothes and hair?

this is really helpful!! thanks alot! im guessing you have photoshop cs1 or 2 am i right? bug im guessing you could use this with any photoshop considering the tools you used? or do you get fancy whenever you move on to the clothes and use tools that other photoshops dont have? *sorry about all the questions *

akemi-shuu In reply to gaaralovinginsominac [2006-11-30 23:39:32 +0000 UTC]

I use Photoshop 7~
And I use very basic tools in it to CG...I don't necessarily need all the spiffy functions to CG...
