I'm curious how you were able to color without going over the lineart.
Also: is there seriously a 'merge layers' button somewhere?

I used to think tutorials didn't do jack, mainly because I could never understand them and the artists just seem to skip way to many steps and was more of using tuts to show off and say, "LOOK! I went from here to HERE in a matter of seconds!"......but, this was really, REALLY helpful!!
I'm an ex-mouse user recently-turned tablet-user, but I still feel more comfortable working with a mouse. However, I tried out your tutorial using a tablet as well, and it works just perfect too. I can't believe the difference in the way my skin coloring changed, from testing out your tutorial and comparing it with my dinky coloring before. Your tutorial encouraged me to try coloring in photoshop for the first time, too. Previously, I would always rely on open canvas to color drawings. Your lineart tutorial was also very helpful, I can see how one can go about changing the color of the lines too, using that tut. Thank you so much, and I can't wait for the hair and eyes tutorial to come out! >w<

very nice, I never thought of just leaving the base white instead of adding the "white" parts afterwards.
I usually bucket fill the base color and go from there. I'll have to try this way.

So wait, you dont need to redraw the lines in photoshop in order to have a clean lineart? You'll only need to do coloring on photoshop for the most part?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
akemi-shuu In reply to MiaGawron [2006-04-30 04:01:14 +0000 UTC]
Yup, as long as you have a clean enough lineart which you scanned in, you just have to clean any extra bits, then proceed to color~
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MiaGawron In reply to akemi-shuu [2006-05-01 01:49:01 +0000 UTC]
allright, and how do you clean it up? do you have to do it manually, or isn't there a program/layer thing where it'll automatically delete the extra?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
akemi-shuu In reply to MiaGawron [2006-05-01 02:12:02 +0000 UTC]
You have to use the eraser tool and clean it up yourself.
