Description
Generally, I won't take photos of people, or myself, but...It was suggested to me that I post this photo that I took of myself not too long ago. You may recognize this as the photo that I cropped to form my avatar.
This was taken in what is the morning around my apartment. Since I moved here with my sister, I've spend a good 60% (or higher) of my time on the computer simply because there's nothing better to do. Unfortunately, that doesn't always meet my requirements of human interaction.
Gah! What am I doing? My expression says it all.

Did you take the picture yourself (stand/timer)? Nice how the backlight doesn't overpower the image, but adds a great deal of warmth to it. You are cute. But you really look like you could use some extra sleep or something in this one.

Yes, I did. The reason the backlight isn't overpowering is because the light is bouncing off the mirror onto me even though the light source is behind me. So what you're seeing is the reflection of me in my closet mirror. I'm not one of those weird right handed people that wears a watch on their right arm... that's my left arm you see. And the camera is just sitting on the desk there. I don't remember if I used a timer or not. I might have used the remote for it, actually...
I wasn't tired. Just bored, lonely and depressed. I thought it made for a good photograph. I don't look like that all the time, really.
And thanks for the compliment.

Doh! Of course. Reflection... reflected light. Well, sorry you were bored and depressed.
Thanks for the explanation!

I don't do many people shots either, but I do every once in a while. I think it's nice to be able to see who I'm talking to.
And this is a good shot. I think you've expressed yourself very well.

You seem to do pretty well with your crappy-assed door prize camera. It's not about what you take your shots with, but how you take them. The best camera in the world won't take good pictures if you don't use it right.

I know. I'm quite pleased with some of the photos that crappy-assed camera has produced. And I know that getting a better camera isn't automatically going to make my pictures better. BUT That camera is all automatic. I can't even change the exposure time so that I can get a really awesome constelation photo.

Yeah, I would be too. That was one requirement I had when I bought my digital. I had to have manual controls. But I stopped one short of what I really should have gotten. Now I want one where I can change the lens if I want. A couple extra megapixels wouldn't break my heart either. I guess I better start saving my money.

I didn't have a choice in the matter. But, no matter how many times I at my camera, I am happy to have a camera at all.

This is true. I don't know what I would do without mine.

I agree though, a camera with interchangable lenses would be nice.

You think so? Thanks a lot!
I'm really glad that there are people who like my work. I've never had people interested in my photos before. (you know, besides the 'rents. But they don't count, they're parents, they have to) So, thanks for the interest in my photos.

I'm glad you posted this. (hehe, it's gotten a lot of hits so far!) I really love how this shot turned out, with the light glowing through that window, and only the slightest illusion of the mirror being the bounceback for the image capture...
Cool stuff.

WOW! There *are* a lot of hits on this... but not too many comments.
I really like those mirror doors. I could take photos of myself up the wazoo with those mirrors if I wanted.
And the more I look at the photo as a whole, the more I actually really like it too.

Is it that bad in the North? I'm glad I did not move there. Cultivate another hobby.....I 'd be out every spare moment out of an urban area taking pictures.

Oh no! I love living here. I just don't like sitting at my computer all day. I live with two other people and neither of us really talk to one another because we have DSL and three computers. You get the idea...
