It's quick-play, searchable, doesn't need a discard, and can still use a monster your opponent's got as material. Plus, Scorpiotonia.combo does help bring this out and active with ease. Could be better, but it's serviceable.
(forgot to mention: unlike its other in-archetype opponent's monster-usin' Fusion Summoner, Sundew Kingii, it doesn't need Predator Counters to go off.

Isn't the only target for this that new monster, triphyovertum? I can't see any benefit to this over super poly?

Ultimately, this card is only useful as a quick-play fusion spell card, either during your opponent's turn or during your Battle Phase to cheese in a second attack, or as a reaction to your opponent's cards, not as a substitute Super Poly.
