I like it, I really do. If I may throw in a suggestion, however, maybe the blue embers of the rabbit could be red along with the red trail to show its path and the wolfs embers could be blue with a sort of quenching trail behind it that puts out the rabbits trail. I get the feeling of scent and fear in this with the colors.
Or I'm just reading too much into it and there's a reason why you've done what you've done.

Overall an amazing piece so dramatic but inΒ particular I love the appearanceΒ of the sparks and the various shades/tones of blue used the bark and the bright contrast just add to the atmosphere.

That wouldn't fit the piece. The wolf is chasing the rabbit, so if the rabbit looked friendly, it would take away from the atmosphere.
