What started as a normal Saturday yesterday, totally blew up on us when Jonas, a good artist friend of mine was on his way to us for an unrelated cozy hangout. You might have followed the news that were trending all over social media yesterday and today. If you haven't read on.
JoJoesArt (Jonas) got a notice by a fan of his who pointed out that A. Carter used one of his artworks, "Brotherhood" ( www.deviantart.com/jojoesart/a… ) to promote his clothing line without permission.
Jonas called Carter out and reminded him about his action. It has all been done in a very friendly manner.
However, Carter instantly attacked and threatened Jonas, mocking him also.
What could have been an easy solution, turned into a big fiasco that reached far beyond the realms of our art community. It brought awareness about art theft and united the entire art community and art admires alike.

This piece of artwork was my contribution to the topic today, because the two lion brothers have somewhat turned into a symbol for the unity of artists as well as their supporters. We should all stand up against theft.
Thank you all so much for standing up against the wave of theft and for protecting artists' rights!
I really want to mention too that, without followers who always keep an eye open and go the extra length to share links, evidence and posts where unsolicited usage of artworks takes place, thefts would mostly just remain unseen. So I really want to thank you all for that too!
On Tuesday next week, Jonas, his Sister (PixieCold) and I will meet up to make a video that will put some more light into the realms of art theft and what it means for us. We want to provide everyone with more information on art usage and bring more awareness regarding art theft online.

As I said, this is absolutely magnificent and a wonderful tribute to a great cause. I'm glad this case received this huge amount of recognition and hope that art theft will finally be seen by the public eye as the rampant issue it is. Jonas really did a massive deed for the artist community by defending his art and his rights as an artist.

I actually saw things about that today. It breaks my heart that artists who put there heart and soul into their work also deal with the risks of art theft. It isn't right to claim someone's work as your own when you didn't lift that pen to paper or had that moment of inspiration that took hours to make.
I really hope JoJoesArt can get through to them along with the support of everyone helping out.
A. Carter should feel ashamed for taking their work especially if he claims to be an artist himself. No artist should have to deal with the drama and stress of having their art they worked so hard on taken.

Art theft is such an important issue and it's a true shame it got so much attention only when a thing like this happened. It's great to see Jonas take action, and as an artist, I'm all for the #artistsunited movement, but at the same time I feel really sorry for Jonas because it's an awful experience to see your work stolen and, additionally, being used to promote something you didn't even know existed until the whole controversy started. I can't get over how immature and stupid Carter behaves, I had to double check he REALLY is 32 years old, as he sure reminds me more of an angry 12-year-old who doesn't even know how to type well. It's both outrageous and ridiculous. Some people truly have no shame...

This is amazing, and I'm glad this has gotten attention. Art theft is ridiculous and it shouldn't be a thing. It's one thing when some trashy bootlegger takes someone's art, but it's worse when a known person(or somewhat known, as far as stupid Aron Carter is concerned) steals from artists.
I hope Carter's happy with the controversy he's created for himself, cuz he's most likely angered a lot of people. I know there will be folks who'd take his side, but I doubt they'd outway those who are outraged.

I made a journal about the situation. I don't know if I went overboard but stuff like this has always angered me. I hope Jonas is able to fix the situation and get it sorted out.

Personally when it comes to Art Theft, which is by my opinion the greatest thievery in the common age, there is no such thing as "Going Overboard".
