Description
Doris Day- when she was young, and acting in musicals, which is when I liked her best...although that could just be becuase most of her 60's comedies were with Rock Hudson, and I don't like himAnyway, our scanner is being evil, and it *killed* the background- it really looks much better in real life, truly, but overall I like this picture a lot, especially since I had to look so hard for a good photograph- there aren't all that many around!
Hope you like it, please comment too!

Wow, this looks really nice. I also love Doris Day when she was younger. But when she got older, I think she started using to much make up. She doesn't need all that, come on, she was pretty without all that crap. That goes with any women. Quit wear so much make up!! But yeah, I love Doris. Do you think she looks like Nicole Kidman when she was younger?

Well, she did use rather a lot of makeup anyway, as she had a lot of freckles, which wasn't at all box office. So they covered them up with makeup. But I agree- I much prefer the less heavy early look to her later look. I suppose she did look a little like Nicole Kidman.... I'm glad you like this, and thanks for the
on "To Have and Have Not" too!

This is fabulous!! That o-so distinctive BEAMING smile of hers....you have executed brilliantly! this holds all that encompasses Ms Day- it is like a photograph into the woman behind the image! you are truly quite a gifted artist!! I love that you choose to draw "old" movie stars....people from a time that is no longer but whose light and essence (that indefinable "star quality")- that which made most of them legends- lives on! Good on you for keeping them alive! (so to speak.... ) You have a great style and I know that you will only continue to get better with time!! well done again!!

Thanks again! I love old movie stars, they make some of the best subjects, although I always have to use modern people when I use colour- the old stars never have depth in their colour pics, if any colour pics at all.
The reference for this took me *ages* to find- I wanted a good one of her when she was young. I really wanted something from Romance on The Hight Seas, but couldn't find anything....
thanks for the comment!

Yes, I am a BIG fan of "old movie stars"....they just had amazing faces! so full of character, each one distinct and uniquely wonderful! today i find that many movie stars (celebrities in general) are 'of a type' - you know what i mean? they are all fairly generic and lacking that special SOMETHING! not all of them mind you, there are a few stand outs! hehehe, it took me FOREVER to find a decent reference pic just for that audrey drawing! they were either too small or too blurry/not anough detail...it drove me nuts! in the end i had to kind of "make up" some of the more 'intricate' detailing...man i go on! my apologies *sheepish look* keep up the excellent work!

I know the feeling, believe me. I tend to decide that I *have* to draw someone, and I can't do anything else until I can...so often I have to settle for a fuzzy picture, because no other ones seem to exist....woe for us, it seems

I think it was actually the first time i drew really blond hair....no, I did two little girls before that, but those two didn't have so many shadows and highlights..... and the skin took *ages* to get smooth. Im glad it paid off
