Description
So there were these books I rather liked when I was younger and they were still coming out called The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. I recently reread them and found myself liking them even more now that I've gotten into writing a bit myself. The main characters in this series are so compelling and definite as they develop. And thus I find myself with a need to draw fan art for it.
So this piece highlights the first book, The Amulet of Samarkand, and Bartimaeus and Nathaniel's first incident together, facing fire, torture, thieves, a mercenary and a whole government's disbelief.
All characters and settings (c) Jonathan Stroud

Hmm, I dunno...it would be cooler if I can have a pentagram and the summoning words to summon Barti. XD

This totally inspired me to do my own stained glass kind of picture, mine for the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher though.
Look! [link]

Yeah there's so little of it around, and most of it is rather old.
Glad to contribute.

Cool stuff! I like the way the characters translate to the stained-glass style, the action, the expressions, it's all-around great.

Heh, a great book choice for this style. I love how you included the scrying disk. Looking at the pre-colored version, I have to wonder how you make these without getting massive headaches.
Excellent work, Alers! I wonder, are you going to do the whole trilogy?

Haha, well you have to remember I know in my head what the colours are going to be, so it's not as hard to discern the different parts. The characters get drawn first them the background around them in this style.
I hope to do the whole trilogy, as I reread it all recently. I at first was trying to think of a way to do the whole 3 as one piece, but I had to cut too many things I wanted to include.

Ah, that would make it a lot easier. I can't do that yet I assume one develops the ability to do that over time?
I'm looking forward to the others, then! I can't imagine trying to fit some of the events that Kitty suffered within one image. It would make it impossible.

Look at this way, your mind is always a few steps ahead of your hands art wise, so practice with both.
Yeah, if I was just chronicling one character it'd be a lot easier, but man do these guys go everywhere at once.
