Another painting based on The Host by Stephenie Meyer
This is NOT the official cast chosen for the movie simply because there's NO official cast yet!
Melanie Stryder - Sophia Bush - reference
Jared Howe - Jensen Ackles - reference
Done from scratch in Photoshop with Wacom BAMBOO tablet. It's NOT traced and NOT a digitalized photo.
This took me AGES to draw...
I wanted it to be really detailed but I had to come up with Mel's entire shading because of the different light direction. Hope there's SOME resemblance... 
Some editing done, I added some texture and shine to Mel's face to equalize it to Jared's. Her skin was a little dull and lifeless 
I did everything I could to make her resemble Sophia Bush using some more references with different lightings. I really really hope it was worth it. Jared's eye close-up - [link]

Are you just picking people you think would fit the part or have they already put out a cast list?

Well, when I heard that The Host WILL be filmed, I browsed the net to see what people thought about which actors would fit best. I totally agree with them about those two, but I definitely do NOT like their suggestions about who'd play Ian O'Shea, soooooooo I picked Adam Garcia for that part and drew him.
As far as I know, there is NO cast chosen, NO script written, NO nothing YET.

Yeah, that's what I though, but I wasn't for sure. I can't wait until something gets started! I'm so excited to see it on the big screen.

Except... this'd be a really tricky one to film all things considered, which makes me a little skeptic. About the cast though, I'd be real frustrated if they don't get the right actors... Oh well, we'll have to wait n see... It's scheduled for release in 2011...
