Pretty selfexplaining I think! Steps 1 and 3 are just visualization, not part of the actual process, meaning, I did the linedrawing from scratch, not over the thumb, and started the painting from the blank canvas again (except for the lines) after doing the color thumb to get an idea of how I wanted the values and lighting to be and all that. This painting went really smoothly because I had a clear idea of it in my head beforehand. I used a ton of layers to keep all the elements separate, over a 100 in total I think, which is only really a good idea if you have the stuff planned out D: In other cases I'd just go and mess around with a painting on a single layer and kind of see what emerges, but this time I tried a different approach. Polygon lasso and locking transparency keeps the edges straight and clean, and after the block-in it's all just rendering stuff out, going over the whole painting to make stuff fit together, and then putting effect stuff on top. Since I knew from the beginning that I wanted glowy lighting like this, I could just go and render everything out without the smoke being there and then just put it in in the end.

The details are like it says 100% zoom, I worked really small this time because of all the layers, the whole image is only like 4k tall.

So there! :] Hope this is interesting to someone.

Cheers!
Hannes

When I see pictures Like this I feel like crying. It's so great!
But... Why is the light-effect so... irregular? After all outside the window, above the houses is a clear sky. And a clear sky radiates clear, regular light, no?
Anyway... great job on the outlines and the details... You didn't use any references, right? Omg omg omg... xD

She's smoking a cigarette and the the smoke is being lit by the sunlight from outside the window.

Oh, it's just the line tool in PS ΓΆ_ΓΆv And sometimes just shift+click with the brush tool. Doing that by hand would be a bit, uh, too much D: But as Loomis said, there's rulers for that D:

> The horizontals have no VP, so it's kind of a weird two-point perspective, and I think that was a mistake because it really flattens things out :I

Hey hannes! Could you possibly one day teach about some of the color theory knowledge that you have seem most effective, or just a color theory tutorial in general,
Because i would love to learn to paint with more a more realistic color scheme

Hallo Hannes, Danke fΓΌrs Teilen deiner Steps.

Merci~

As always absolutely stunning work. And the fact that you used no reference makes all those pain staking study pieces worth while, because you have truly trained your minds eye to know what things should look like. If I were to make one point of criticism I would suggest looking at the floor tiles. I don't think we are seeing enough or something because the horizontals make it look as though the refrigerator is the size of only one tile which would make the tiles massive in size. Regardless of this it is a fantastic piece the lighting and smoke is just stunning.
