Description Concept-ish art for one of five major races in a low-fantasy classical-era world I'm building.

More commonly referred to as "lizardfolk" by other races, the Chipak hold dominion over the vast southern jungles of the known world. Bordered on the north by the human republics and on the northeast by the orcish steppe tribes, total Chipak holdings are in the hundreds of thousands of square miles. The geography of the southern part of the world combined with the sheer amount of land they inhabit has given rise to numerous cultures, most of them reminiscent of real-world Ancient Indian and Southeast Asian cultures.

Shown above are two Chipak from the Veshna, or laborer caste of the Gahapi culture, which most closely resembles Ancient Indian culture. As the name implies, Veshna perform most of the hard labor in the Gahapi caste system, along with serving in the lower echelons of the military. Most commonly, a member of the Veshna caste owns a couple sets of clothes and a single pair of wood and leather sandals, with the clothes usually being the traditional lungi or dhoti, which look similar to the apparel above. In the event of war, the vast majority of Veshna who are conscripted into military service keep the same apparel, with the addition of a large wood and leather shield that covers most of the body, a bronze spear, and the occasional helmet. After a few months of training, they are then sent to serve under the command of a member of the Kashtri, or warrior caste, in platoons of 25-50.
