Description Here's a figure that I finished last month (October).
The original design is by and was reproduced with permission.
The original design can be seen HERE .

It was a first time using resin for me and I have learned from the experience. The water is greener than I would have liked or than it should have been. This was the result of me leaving it too long from purchasing the resin to actually using it so it took on a yellow tint, and that combined with the blue colouring I added, basically resulted in this green.

The finished figure stands 13cm tall by 8.5cm wide at the base.

I failed to keep track of time on this piece unfortunately due to the amount of stop-starting when things went wrong and had to be scrapped. I would estimate it to have taken at least 48 hours, if not more, as I had already clocked a full 24 hours before I stopped counting.

I still like it! The ripples in the base are really convincing. But I agree, resin is so much harder than I ever imagined! Nothing works perfectly the first time. I think the green water enhances the surreal quality of the piece and really makes it look otherworldly.Β

The base is AMAZING, just wow! I can never get stuff done with resin so i'm super impressed how well this turned out. I get the green bothering you but i honestly wouldn't even have noticed if you didn't point it out. This is a really well done sculpture of the drawing, looks spot on!

Thank you very much for saying so. My Dad actually prefers the green colour.
There were a lot of failed attempts at making the mold to pour the resin into. There was also a lot of shrinkage at the base of the waterfall piece where the locator pin I had sculpted should have been. There was enough of it left intact on this attempt though for it to work, thankfully.
I've got work in progress shots up on my facebook page if you want to take a look.

I need to check your facebook more often, i rarely do because i dont have an account there but i love seeing the WIPs! A lot of resin brands have stuff in them that prevents the yellow tint that comes with time but i dont think ive ever seen one thats so yellow right after hardening.. Transparent resins are really hard to use which is a pity. But like i said, i donβ€˜t think the color hurts the figure thankfully!

The stuff I was using apparently only has a six month shelf life once opened and I made the mistake of doing a practice piece too far in advance of actually needing the rest of it so I think about 8 months had passed by the time I used it for this meaning I was lucky it worked at all.

Oh that one! That's actually the only resin they sell in the craft store where i live. Thanks for telling me, i will absolutely keep this in mind.

It's the only one I can find in stores near me as well which is why I gave it a try. If you don't open it until you actually need it then I can't see that there should be too much of an issue.
