SO UM. Spoilers for Critical Role if you haven't caught up, but WOW this scene from the most recent ep was so intensely described, I couldn't help but sit down and paint it |D IT'S LITERALLY BEEN YEARS SINCE I DID A FANART OF ANYTHING, or really sat down and did an illustration for fun...but man I'm so interested in learning more about Fjord and his creepy af patron.Man something about this show (and d&d in general) gets me so interested and invested in things, way more than any other media honestly. in others words kem is a mega nerd /lies down
Also here's a second version because I have no self control with canvas sizes :')

Fantastic work! The lighting, colors, level of detail, it's all great!! The only critique I would have at all is the pose of the humanoid character is a little hard to read, and viewing the detail shot didn't really help.

Thanks for the feedback! I wasn't sure if the figure was too low-contrast especially on his bottom half, so that's something I'll keep in mind in the future

Oh WOW. I've seen quite a few takes on this scene already but this one is my favorite. It just makes the patron look so massive and Fjord so small. I loooove the eye detail too and all the texture & lighting effects ;0;

Ooh I'm glad the sense of scale turned out okay, I was trying to capture that since making something look huge can be really tricky! I might have gotten a little carried away with the eye haha...I love the freaky patterning in octopus eyes so that was the inspiration there!

OH MAN if I can be honest, I am so much more emotionally invested in the 2nd campaign even though it's only a few episodes in...as much as I love the old party there's something so fresh and unique about the new kids. It's a good time to jump in IMO since thankfully you don't have to have watched the old campaign to get into the new one (they said there wouldn't be spoilers or heavy references!)
